Weekend 9/10th August 2008

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 3 Manly Vale Bears 1

Wow!! Second week in a row that we have come away with a win.

After an unfortunate own goal by Manly Vale in the first half we came back to show our skill as all the players worked as a team.

With Isaac as goalie in the 1st half he scored a fantastic goal in the 2nd half off a great cross from Matthew! Nicolas was unlucky to miss a goal in the 1st half after hitting the post.

We had some great defending and big kicks by Alessandro, great passing by Vanessa, Daniel, Mitchell & Jack. Joseph was goalie 2nd half and saved some strong kicks from Manly Vale.

Callum came back after a hit in the face with the ball to produce a great goal!!. Josh's passing and kicking made him come oh so close to scoring in the final seconds of the game!

Great game by the Tornadoes!
Looks like the Socceroos better watch out the Tornadoes are on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend 2/3rd August 2008

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles lost to BTH Raiders Crocodiles

Everyone tried the best this week which made it very difficult to pick a 'player of the match', but after much discussion Cameron was rewarded for his strong attacking runs.

Great defence by Nathan Jeremy and Michael helped protect our goal and Ali showed us how its done with some great throw ins.

It was good to see Elizabeth and Piper showing definite improvement in having a go in attack.

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes win BTH Raiders

Finally..... the win we so dearly deserve.

The team showed exceptional determination after going down by 1 early in the first half. Isaac had a turn up front and looked dangerous all day. Nicholas did well in goals in the first half, then finished of with two goals in the second.

Vanessa had a brilliant game, earning the player of the week award. Joseph and Daniel did well with some great passing. As usual Jack, Josh and Alessandro were solid all day diffusing the opposition attack.

Matthew and Callum were again both strong with some great runs and opportunities. Finally Mitch had a fantastic return in goals and in the field looking like he had not missed a game.

Well done to the Tornadoes, lets keep the wins coming.

U7: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 2 Seaforth Pythons 3

Beacon Hill started off well with Vanessa almost scoring.

This seemed to kick the team into gear especially Daniel who had a great game with good running and passing. Callum scored two great goals, we could have had a few more but their goal keeper got in the way.

All the team worked very well in the first half but the second half proved a bit too much.

Great defending and attacking by the whole team.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Pittwater Blue Bottles 2

This was a great team game with everyone combining well as a team.

Fantastic goal keeping by Ally and Cameron stopped our opponents from posting a big score. Jeremy, Riley and Elizabeth had some good attacking runs and Nathan as always was a tower of strength in defence.

The only thing we need to do now is learn how to complete our attacking runs, by following through all the way to the goal.

It was great to see our player of the match Michael, back on the field after breaking his collarbone earlier in the season - we really missed having Michael on the field as he is such a valuable asset in both attack and defence.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 2 CCL Hawks 8

Unfortunately we came up against a very strong team this week and not even the inclusion of the 'dynamic duo' Josh and Wesley could save us. The Eagles want to say a big thank you to Josh who scored our only 2 goals and Wesley for filling in for us and leading the teams attack.

Man of the Match Jeremy was on fire again this week showing us all how it's done with both his impressive tackling and attacking skills.

We need to work on backing each other up especially in attack, it's going to take a mighty team effort for us to start putting some goals on the board and not just any one individual's effort.

Let's work on supporting each other all the way down the field and try to tackle sooner rather than waiting back in defence for the ball to come to us.

U7: Beacon Hill Hawks 4 Wakehurst Lynx 0

The Hawks go from strength to strength this season and today's match was no exception.

Incredible teamwork, prodigious passing, and their famous never-say-die attitude makes tickets to Hawks games some of the most in demand in Sydney.

Wakehurst fielded a skilled line-up and they were quickly testing the Beacon Hill defence, with goalie Hannah protecting the net, ably assisted by Daniel and Josh, who gets faster every week. Dean and Pete's strategic moves soon had the Hawks on the front foot, and Blake capitalised with a fine-angle shot that slipped past the determined Wakehurst goalie. He followed up with another shot but was denied by an incredible save, but Matthew kept probing and scored soon after.

The Hawks kept the pressure on, exemplified by Pete producing the year's first, and immaculately-executed, header from a high ball. Perhaps inspired by this, KC was in the thick of it and very nearly broke his scoring drought on two occasions.

The second half produced more of the same commitment, with the players out waiting on field, hungry for play, before the whistle blew. The resilient Wakehurst defence was again quickly stretched by a three-prong attack of Daniel, KC and Dean - with Dean, Player of the Week, slotting a goal.

Hannah backed up her flawless first-half goalkeeping with a second-half full of near-misses, earning her the Encouragement Award for the week. Daniel put in the cross-pass of the season but it went begging; soon after though Best & Fairest Matthew helped set up Blake's next score, a powerhouse boot which broke free of the goalie's grip and crossed the line.

It was one of the Hawks' best performances of the year, and fuelled talk from high-level sources that Socceroos selectors will be on the sideline in coming weeks.

U7: Beacon Hill Turtles 6 Pittwater Seals 0

No-one likes to see Seals getting hurt, especially U7 Seals. But when the Turtles turned up to Kitchener Park on Saturday morning they were not in a charitable mood.

An emphatic 6-0 victory only tells half the story. This was men against boys (and girls).

From the kick off it was one way traffic. At least that's what I think I saw through the 784 people still hanging around from the match before. The Turtles first goal, a rebound from Jordy, was a blow to The Seals and a blow to the young goalkeeper who took the initial shot smack in the face. Adding humiliation, a Mum raced over and immediately removed him from the field, taking his goalkeeper top off in the process.

The ball never got into the Turtles half and Nathan in goal was unlucky not to receive the man of the match award for staying awake.

Jordy's second arrived on ten minutes and a minute later he got his hatrick with a good finish. His Dad, who apparently did his back in getting out of bed before the game, would have been proud.

Just before half time Jack got his first with a well taken finish before Archie blasted wide. Intelligent interchanging from the Dutch masters in charge of The Turtles didn't make life any easier for the lack lustre Seals.

The half time whistle came and went and it was more of the same for the second 15 minutes. Jack was everywhere (within a ten metre radius of the opposition goal) and the Turtles could smell blood as they hovered over the Seals goalkeeper waiting for a feeble goal kick. It never arrived as she performed heroics to keep the score down. Time after time she frustrated the Turtles with a string of good 'picking the ball ups'.

Nathan hit the post, Joel linked well in midfield and Lucas covered lots of ground. No surprise then when Jordy with a fourth and Jack with his second completed the rout.

The sun stayed out and The Turtles continued their run of strong performances. How they will fair in the coming weeks as Gus Hiddink returns to his homeland only time will tell.

U7: Beacon Hill Turtles 4 Pittwater Tigers Sharks 1

The Turtles fine form continued against Pittwater with all the players putting in their best effort.

In the first half Jack was goal keeper and was able to keep Pittwater from scoring. The score at the end of the first half was 2-0 with Lucas and Jordan both scoring one goal each.

In the second half Archie as goal keeper continued to keep Pittwater at bay. Lucas and Jordan scored again.

Joel, Dexter, Jack, Jordan, Lucas, and Archie all attacked and defended with maximum effort. Training definitely showing with the Turtles increased ball skills and better communication. With all players playing the entire game the final score was 4-1 with Pittwater scoring in the last minute.

Keep up the great work.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Narrabeen Taipans 5

It is great to see the team's attitude changing and everyone getting out there doing their best and having fun regardless of the scoreline. We are now definitely starting to play as a team which is wonderful.

Jeremy was on fire leading the attack and tackling at every opportunity. Riley and Cameron were right up there with him both making some impressive goal attempts.

It was good to see our Person of the Match - Piper back on the field after illness where she and Elizabeth held the mid field, fiercely tackling the ball away from their opponents and assisting other team mates to bring the ball down to the attacking end.

Ali showed us her golden boot by sending the ball flying every time she connected. And as always Nathan was our last line of defence assisting the goalie in clearing many of the opposition's goal attempts. Great Goal keeping by Riley and Piper!

U7: Beacon Hill Hawks 2 Mosman 0

The wind blew cold at Georges Heights but the Dragons arrived breathing fire.

In one of their closest fought encounters yet, the Hawks were forced to dig deep into their reserves of teamwork and skill to etch out a victory.

The further into the season we get, the further out Daniel shoots from, his long range strikes twice going agonisingly close. Hannah's speed and dexterity down the sidelines left many Dragons in her wake, and allowed her to set many opportunities for KC and Peter's improved positional play and fancy footwork - both having shots at goal.

But it was Blake who first delivered the goods, perhaps tricking the opposition by using his left foot before unleashing a right foot scorcher that found the back of the net. Matthew followed with his own tenacious contribution, scoring a great goal.

That lead to a second half thriller, with Matthew and Dean right in the thick of it, putting their bodies on the line in defence, and Josh sweeping across in cover to earn him the coveted Manager's award for best and fairest and at one stage a breathtaking solo charge up centrefield.

KC's big effort saw him take home the trophy for Player of the Week and Peter grabbed the encouragement award.

U9: Beacon Hill Storm 3 Mosman Tigers 1

A brilliant game by the Beacon Hill Storm this week.

The strikers and midfield were on fire immediately into the game. For the 1st goal, Bailey passed a lovely ball for Ryan to slam it into the back of the net. Soon afterwards, Bailey positioned himself superbly to follow in another goal. Ben, Jesse and Lachlan, always busy, controlled the play and made some great runs through the pack and up the sidelines.

Brandon also took opportunity scoring an excellent goal during the 2nd half. Great passing and various shots at the goal gave George the well deserved Player of the Match Trophy.

The defence was remarkable and tight throughout the game. Nice one Jan and Trent for quickly removing the ball from the danger zone. Congratulations to Elliott who received McDonalds Encouragement Award for his excellent tackling and defence.

This was an incredible team performance that was a pleasure to watch. Well done lads!

U9: Beacon Hill Hurricanes 1 Narrabeen Lions 2

The Hurricanes scrambled to go down 2-1 against Narrabeen at Boondah.

Narrabeen had far more scoring opportunities but some determined goalkeeping from Matt and Daniel kept us in the game.

Other highlights for us were Ethan who had some good control and distribution, Alex finding the back of the net, some good defence from TJ and Connor, and the general improvement in passing skills (although we still struggled a bit to pass to our own players, which meant we could not control the game).

Player of the Match went to Will Carter.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Mosman Adders 5

For the first half the Eagles all played brilliantly. We worked together as a team, positioning well, sharing the ball around and looking for the best positioned player to throw or kick to. The result was that it was nil all at half time

Unfortunately in the second half having only the bare 6 players and half of those not well, we all got tired. This was not helped by the other team bringing on their star player who in the space of 7 minutes managed to score 5 goals before being taken off to save him later for the U9 game he was filling in for!

Man of the match was Cameron who even though unwell led the charge in attack in the first half and then in the second half defended the goal like a professional preventing the "terminator" from scoring at least double what he managed to get on the board! Great game Cameron.

Keep up the good work team you are all getting better and better every week and as long as you keep having fun, the result of the game doesn’t matter.

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 1 Mosman Jaguars 3

It was a chilly morning a the oval and the Tornadoes played a great game.

Vanessa had a good first half in goals with an unlucky one slipping through. Alessandro displayed his usual solid kicking game, with good ball skills from Daniel and Joseph. Callum played an exceptional game with great side runs and good defense. Isaac and Jack were again good in their defense and passing.

Josh played well in the first half and had a great game in the second half in goals. Our only goal with great team work was scored by Matthew with some great attempts at goal during the game by the team.

Well done and keep up the good team work.

U9: Beacon Hill Storm 1 Pittwater Pumas 1

What a tough and demanding match against the Pittwater Pumas!

From the onset of the game, the action was brilliant and astonishing. Luke scored an excellent goal within the first 5 minutes, however the Pumas then came into play. Fullbacks Brandon, Jan and Elliott faced this challenge and provided remarkable cover skills to feed the ball away from our goal.

In the 2nd half the boys continued to work hard with the ball. Exceptional attacking by George, Bailey and Jesse kept spectators glued to the game, while Ryan and Lachlan repeatedly produced great runs up the field.

In a Man of the Match performance, Ben tackled and passed superbly, while congratulations to Trent who received McDonalds Encouragement Award for his excellent goal saving skills and brilliant team work.

The final score of 1-1 reflected a hard but exciting match. Well done boys!

U7: Beacon Hill Turtles 2 Manly Vale Bandicoots 0

Good tough game with both teams having chances to score.

A solid couple of tackles from Archie in the first half to cement our defence - one tackle put one of their players on his back!! The game in the first half, was going from one end to the other, until Jordie made a break from own half, made a great run and scored a great individual goal!!.

Joel made a couple of vital saves in goal. Dexter was in the middle of the packs attacking the ball.

Second half started at fast pace - Jack was showing lots of determination to win the ball - one dribble towards the goal resulted in a corner. Lucas was cleaning up at the back preventing some shots on our goal. The Manly Vale team were throwing everything at our goal, but Jordie pulled off a couple of good saves.

Nathan got the ball outside the goal area and after seeing their keeper was off his line, chipped his shot over the keeper's head and into the back of the net for a fantastic goal!!! Joel had a good strike late in the game which was unlucky not to go in.

Turtles kept their winning streak alive with another fantastic display of teamwork... go Turtles!.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Brookvale Chargers 5

Once again we only had the bare 6 players, but the mighty 6 continued to put in a big effort.

Man of the Match Nathan was valiant in defence effectively deflecting numerous attacking charges from the opposition.

Jeremy made some magnificent saves as Goalie and Riley continued to show the way in attack, I'm sure that goal is just around the corner Riley, keep up the great effort.

Elizabeth, Ally and Cameron all worked hard and showed some promising attacking runs.

The lesson for this week is that we have to remember to play as a team all the time and make sure we throw and kick to the team player in the best position, not our best friend!

U9: Beacon Hill Hurricanes 1 CC Striker Rovers 5

After a week break due to wet weather the Hurricanes were very keen to play again. It was not the best day to play with strong wind and very cold day.

First half, the boys were very good with their defence and trying hard to score. It was 0-2 and the first half was nearly finished when Alexander went for a big kick and scored a goal. Our goalkeepers Ryan and Ethan saved some goals.

Second half we had few chances to score but it was unsuccessful.

It was a great game, but unfortunately we were just unlucky!

Player of the Match - Ryan Blanks.

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 5 CC Spirit 1

What a freezing and windy morning ! We were running into a strong wind in the first half but the Tornadoes force was stronger !

The game started off well with Joseph and Matthew working well to get us off the mark with a great goal to Matthew in the first few minutes. Jack forcefully pushed the ball forward to allow many shots at goals. Defence was tight with Allessandro stopping Curl Curl pushing through on many occasions.

Daniel was our goalkeeper in the first half and did a wonderful job. Mitchell scored a blinder of a goal just before half time which brought the score to 2-1 at half time.

The second half the Tornadoes were fired up and ready to go. Matthew continued his hot form from the first half to score another two goals to get his hat trick. Nicholas was in goals this half and did some awesome saves. Vanessa controlled the mid field with lots of side stepping and fancy footwork. Isaac's defence was fearless as usual and Josh did some fantastic runs and crossed a fabulous ball to Callum to bring the score to 5-1.

What an exciting and action packed game with the boys really working together as a team showing off their excellent passing skills that they have been practising at training. Well done Tornadoes !!!

U6: Beacon Hill Bobcats 0 CC Strikers Panthers 4

Another hardworking performance this week from the Bobcats without much hint of luck.

The team has been training really well recently and their work in defense really helped keep the scoreboard in check.

The team ran all day, and were only over-run towards the end of the game due to tired legs.

Special mention this week to man-of-the-match Rory, who's heroics in goal in the first half repelled opportunity after opportunity.

Keep up the good work team !!!!

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Manly Vale Emus 0

What a great game!

With only 6 players we managed to keep our opposition scoreless and came very close several times to posting our first win of the season.

Riley supported by Ally, was dynamite in attack, she ran her heart out and ensured that our team dominated possession. Nathan, Jeremy and Cameron were staunch in defence, defeating the opposition's attacks at every opportunity.

Elizabeth was awarded player of the match as she showed great poise and strength in the face of several personal physical attacks. She was very brave, stayed on the field and most importantly she did not retaliate - well done Elizabeth!

As a team we continue to show improvement, this week the team demonstrated their understanding of holding their position so that we didn't all chase the ball together and wear ourselves out, this was very important when we had no reserves.

Go the Eagles!

U7: Beacon Hill Sharks 1 Wakehurst Cougars 5

Today the Sharks played the Wakehurst Cougars at Beverly Job Park.

The first half of the game started with both sides trying hard to get the ball into the net. Nathan was dribbling the ball well and Zack made some great passes to his team mates.

The Cougars scored three times and they led at half time despite some tough defence from Liam and Jayden.

From the start of the second half of the game Daniel was just about everywhere. He broke through with his first goal and wasn't he excited !!!

Thomas made some great goalie kicks whilst Lincoln and Darcy continually chased the Cougars with some strong tackling.

Great team work was displayed by all the boys but unfortunately it wasn't the Sharks day with the Cougars scoring a couple more goals.

Zack received the McDonalds Encouragement Award and Daniel received the Player of the Match Award.

U7: Beacon Hill Bears 1 Mosman 0

The Bears fought hard for the win this week. They were a hard team (Joshua's words)

The Bears 'keepers had a bit of work to do - Zali and Josh did well saving all attempts and with some quick returns downfield turned defence into attack. Maya and Isabella came close to scoring goals.

Taylor and Cheyenne made some great tackles and attacking moves downfield. Zali played well in defence and took the pressure off our goalie as she does every week. Wesley came on as an impact player at the first change and with help quickly scored the winning goal. He also defended well.

Nicholas played well, made some good runs as well as good support play. He hurt his knee in a second half tackle but bravely continued playing, helping his team to victory in one of the best games of this season.

Well done all !!!!

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 2 CC Strikers Gunners 2

A very exciting and nail biting match! 2 well matched teams going head to head.

Our Tornadoes did us proud with some fantastic passing by Vanessa and Daniel who also marked their opponents well.

Our fists were in our mouths at the near goals by Callum and Joseph and we were cheering like crazy as Joshua and Matthew both used all their skill to sink the ball straight into the net. Yet again Alessandro impressed us using his chest and head to control the ball.

Jack and Nicholas were unstoppable as they went in for the tackle and passed the ball. As usual Isaac was fearless in defence and faster than lightning. On top of all that Mitchell's performance in goals was first class.

Well done to Patrick for a great job as referee.
Well done Tornadoes, keep up the good work.

U9: Beacon Hill Storms 5 Pittwater Panthers 0

The Storms have done it again!

The game started boldly with immediate possession of the ball and lighting passing. Although the Pittwater Panthers put up a good defence during the 1st half, Jesse struck with 2 wonderful goals while Bailey slammed another to bring the goal count to 3.

The 2nd half brought the mid-fields and backs into swift play - terrific control of the ball by Jan, Brandon, Trent and Elliott, as well as the rest of the team to deliver a game that was brilliant to watch.

A further goal each by Ryan and Jesse in the 2nd half gave a well-earned final score of Storms 5, Pittwater Panthers 0. Nice one boys, looking forward to the next game.

Also congratulations to 'Player of the Match' Jan for his solid defence, and Lachlan was given the McDonalds Encouragement Award for his clever field work.

U9: Beacon Hill Hurricanes 1 BTH Raiders 0

The U/9 Hurricanes had a terrific game against a good BTH side at Bambara.

Both teams had a lot of possession and moved the ball well. Our boys had some good chances and both close and long range shots by Daniel, Matthew and Will were unlucky not to score.

Excellent defence by Justin and Ryan and Eric had an outstanding stint in goal. The efforts were rewarded when Ethan got on the end of a nice cross by Will and drove it home for a goal.

The second half built on the first with the lads controlling the ball very well. Ned was running with and onto the ball beautifully, TJ and Eric were rock-solid in defense and controlling the ball well too, Wills clearances from goal got the ball well upfield and our boys were hungry for it.

Chances came from Alex, Ned and Ethan, but it was the defence that stood out too. We didn't let BTH see much of the goal and brought home a well earned win.

Well done lads!
