Beacon Hill Alligators v BTH Raiders Bears

We had our second match of the season today in beautiful weather against the Bears.  The games were even better than the weather.  We split up in two teams, and both teams scored lots of goals and had lots of fun.

Alex put the ball in the net a whole lot for Team 1.  Luke and Harris contributed a few goals for that team as well, including a full field run for Harris that was the play of the day.  Aiden scored as well, and Quincy and Oliver were very active running down the field stopping the ball and keeping it going in the right direction.

On Team 2, James and Maya were the big scorers, and Maya was awarded the most improved player for this week.  Daniel has a big kick on him, and he loved to show it off, keeping the ball on the right side of the field.  Alex Lord was great at running the ball down on defence and keeping the other team from scoring goals. Toby had boundless energy, scored some goals, and was again the first player back on defence.  And Jack never wanted to get off the pitch, he was into the game from start to finish.

We outscored the other team by a bit today, it looked like everybody had fun out there, and you really couldn't help but think that a morning like that was made for football.

Grahams Oval, Manly
Beacon Hill Jackals v Brookvale Ravens

Our second match of the season was played in lovely weather and the team had lots of fun.  Team 1 - Sammy, James, Harvey and Nathan played together on one side and Hamish, Natalie, Carli and Harris (Hamish's little brother who filled in) played on the other side of the field.

Team 1 were up against a tough side of keen players.  While Harvey and Nathan played up front, Sammy and James were excellent defenders and managed to prevent a number of almost certain goals. James especially managed a sliding save which certainly was the save of the match, consequently earning him Player of the Day.  While they didn't score any goals, their teamwork was good to see with them starting to pass to one another to get the ball up the field.

Team 2 gelled very quickly together and immediately started scoring goals.  In all Hamish scored 2, Harris 2 and Natalie 1 – a superb result showing that they all worked together to get the ball in the net.  Natalie worked so hard running up and down the field that she was bright red by the end and needed a big drink of water – very hot and thirsty work!  With all that tackling and kicking, Natalie was awarded the Player of the Day for Team 2.

Well done team!

Beacon Hill Jackals v Seaforth Kookaburras

Everybody came together well in the first game of the season – with the team pulling off a fantastic 6-3 victory.

With Natalie and Carli joining Samuel, Harvey and Bradley, a formidable force ran out on the field. Both the girls were awesome with their dribbling skills and direct approach to goal, with Carli making great runs down the wing and Natalie down the centre of the field.

Bradley took a vested interest in protecting the Beacon Hill goal, whilst Harvey made some great calls to fellow players before passing to them and Samuel defended fiercely and also joined in the attacks. Goals were spread fairly liberally between the players – highlighting the team effort!

Our other Jackals side played extremely well considering their tough opposition for their first game.  Several near misses kept the ball out of the goal, but all pulled together to ensure that next week we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Special mention goes to Nathan Smith who was player of the match for his excellent running and kicking, nearly scoring on more than one occasion.

Beacon Hill Jaguars v Cromer Collaroy Strikers Dragons

The Jaguars were very enthusiastic about their first game of the year.

They really pulled together as a team even without a training session leading up to the match.

The Jaguars are looking forward to a great season. Well done Jaguars!
