Weekend 9/10th August 2008

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 3 Manly Vale Bears 1

Wow!! Second week in a row that we have come away with a win.

After an unfortunate own goal by Manly Vale in the first half we came back to show our skill as all the players worked as a team.

With Isaac as goalie in the 1st half he scored a fantastic goal in the 2nd half off a great cross from Matthew! Nicolas was unlucky to miss a goal in the 1st half after hitting the post.

We had some great defending and big kicks by Alessandro, great passing by Vanessa, Daniel, Mitchell & Jack. Joseph was goalie 2nd half and saved some strong kicks from Manly Vale.

Callum came back after a hit in the face with the ball to produce a great goal!!. Josh's passing and kicking made him come oh so close to scoring in the final seconds of the game!

Great game by the Tornadoes!
Looks like the Socceroos better watch out the Tornadoes are on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend 2/3rd August 2008

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles lost to BTH Raiders Crocodiles

Everyone tried the best this week which made it very difficult to pick a 'player of the match', but after much discussion Cameron was rewarded for his strong attacking runs.

Great defence by Nathan Jeremy and Michael helped protect our goal and Ali showed us how its done with some great throw ins.

It was good to see Elizabeth and Piper showing definite improvement in having a go in attack.

U9: Beacon Hill Tornadoes win BTH Raiders

Finally..... the win we so dearly deserve.

The team showed exceptional determination after going down by 1 early in the first half. Isaac had a turn up front and looked dangerous all day. Nicholas did well in goals in the first half, then finished of with two goals in the second.

Vanessa had a brilliant game, earning the player of the week award. Joseph and Daniel did well with some great passing. As usual Jack, Josh and Alessandro were solid all day diffusing the opposition attack.

Matthew and Callum were again both strong with some great runs and opportunities. Finally Mitch had a fantastic return in goals and in the field looking like he had not missed a game.

Well done to the Tornadoes, lets keep the wins coming.

U7: Beacon Hill Tornadoes 2 Seaforth Pythons 3

Beacon Hill started off well with Vanessa almost scoring.

This seemed to kick the team into gear especially Daniel who had a great game with good running and passing. Callum scored two great goals, we could have had a few more but their goal keeper got in the way.

All the team worked very well in the first half but the second half proved a bit too much.

Great defending and attacking by the whole team.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 0 Pittwater Blue Bottles 2

This was a great team game with everyone combining well as a team.

Fantastic goal keeping by Ally and Cameron stopped our opponents from posting a big score. Jeremy, Riley and Elizabeth had some good attacking runs and Nathan as always was a tower of strength in defence.

The only thing we need to do now is learn how to complete our attacking runs, by following through all the way to the goal.

It was great to see our player of the match Michael, back on the field after breaking his collarbone earlier in the season - we really missed having Michael on the field as he is such a valuable asset in both attack and defence.

U7: Beacon Hill Eagles 2 CCL Hawks 8

Unfortunately we came up against a very strong team this week and not even the inclusion of the 'dynamic duo' Josh and Wesley could save us. The Eagles want to say a big thank you to Josh who scored our only 2 goals and Wesley for filling in for us and leading the teams attack.

Man of the Match Jeremy was on fire again this week showing us all how it's done with both his impressive tackling and attacking skills.

We need to work on backing each other up especially in attack, it's going to take a mighty team effort for us to start putting some goals on the board and not just any one individual's effort.

Let's work on supporting each other all the way down the field and try to tackle sooner rather than waiting back in defence for the ball to come to us.

U7: Beacon Hill Hawks 4 Wakehurst Lynx 0

The Hawks go from strength to strength this season and today's match was no exception.

Incredible teamwork, prodigious passing, and their famous never-say-die attitude makes tickets to Hawks games some of the most in demand in Sydney.

Wakehurst fielded a skilled line-up and they were quickly testing the Beacon Hill defence, with goalie Hannah protecting the net, ably assisted by Daniel and Josh, who gets faster every week. Dean and Pete's strategic moves soon had the Hawks on the front foot, and Blake capitalised with a fine-angle shot that slipped past the determined Wakehurst goalie. He followed up with another shot but was denied by an incredible save, but Matthew kept probing and scored soon after.

The Hawks kept the pressure on, exemplified by Pete producing the year's first, and immaculately-executed, header from a high ball. Perhaps inspired by this, KC was in the thick of it and very nearly broke his scoring drought on two occasions.

The second half produced more of the same commitment, with the players out waiting on field, hungry for play, before the whistle blew. The resilient Wakehurst defence was again quickly stretched by a three-prong attack of Daniel, KC and Dean - with Dean, Player of the Week, slotting a goal.

Hannah backed up her flawless first-half goalkeeping with a second-half full of near-misses, earning her the Encouragement Award for the week. Daniel put in the cross-pass of the season but it went begging; soon after though Best & Fairest Matthew helped set up Blake's next score, a powerhouse boot which broke free of the goalie's grip and crossed the line.

It was one of the Hawks' best performances of the year, and fuelled talk from high-level sources that Socceroos selectors will be on the sideline in coming weeks.

U7: Beacon Hill Turtles 6 Pittwater Seals 0

No-one likes to see Seals getting hurt, especially U7 Seals. But when the Turtles turned up to Kitchener Park on Saturday morning they were not in a charitable mood.

An emphatic 6-0 victory only tells half the story. This was men against boys (and girls).

From the kick off it was one way traffic. At least that's what I think I saw through the 784 people still hanging around from the match before. The Turtles first goal, a rebound from Jordy, was a blow to The Seals and a blow to the young goalkeeper who took the initial shot smack in the face. Adding humiliation, a Mum raced over and immediately removed him from the field, taking his goalkeeper top off in the process.

The ball never got into the Turtles half and Nathan in goal was unlucky not to receive the man of the match award for staying awake.

Jordy's second arrived on ten minutes and a minute later he got his hatrick with a good finish. His Dad, who apparently did his back in getting out of bed before the game, would have been proud.

Just before half time Jack got his first with a well taken finish before Archie blasted wide. Intelligent interchanging from the Dutch masters in charge of The Turtles didn't make life any easier for the lack lustre Seals.

The half time whistle came and went and it was more of the same for the second 15 minutes. Jack was everywhere (within a ten metre radius of the opposition goal) and the Turtles could smell blood as they hovered over the Seals goalkeeper waiting for a feeble goal kick. It never arrived as she performed heroics to keep the score down. Time after time she frustrated the Turtles with a string of good 'picking the ball ups'.

Nathan hit the post, Joel linked well in midfield and Lucas covered lots of ground. No surprise then when Jordy with a fourth and Jack with his second completed the rout.

The sun stayed out and The Turtles continued their run of strong performances. How they will fair in the coming weeks as Gus Hiddink returns to his homeland only time will tell.
