Beacon Hill's new style PL strip

Last Saturday against Narrabeen, Beacon Hill's Premier League christened their new playing strip supplied by sponsor Darrell Novaro from Rhino Sports - see photos below...

The subtle shirt change ( no collar and sublimation styling ) is the first alteration to the playing strip since the current strip was introduced in the year 2000. Playing shorts also have a change and now show the Rhino Sports and Beacon Hill logo on the legs.

The players gave the new strip a big "thumbs up" and are looking forward to their home game next Saturday against Dee Why.

Meanwhile, the PL Reserves continued their recent successes slamming Narrabeen 5-0 last Saturday to move into 5th place on the competition table. However, the PL First Grade was a different story when they lost the momentum going down 2-1 after Tim Boorman had put the Blues ahead after 20 minutes

Weekend 12/13 April 2008

Beacon Boys Beat Brookie!!

Despite 7 regular First Graders being away, our newly arranged AL 1 First Grade team prevailed over a strong Brookvale team 2 goals to NIL.

The usual Ressies guys stepped up and many will find regular First Grade spots, sooner rather than later, following this top effort on Saturday, 12th April.

The Beacon Boys were at Brookie heels and in their faces all match. Two fine goals, one a neat penalty from John Whittle (Captain), the other a well crafted one through play first by Scotty Bowers, then via great passes for Anderson Lessing ("Ando") to weave magic and SCORE!!

New guys in Firsts, like Andy Taylor, Scotty Bowers, Ash Jeffs, Andrew Mc Bean, Ando Lessing, Tim Ottaway and Leighto Cant (tall in stature in goals!!) were tireless champions!!!!! The regular Firsts guys lifted too!!

A win to celebrate!!!

Coach Jim Delaney, Assistant Coach Ron Delaney and Manager Tony Davies are delighted !!!!!!

Weekend 5/6 April 2008

AL1 Reserves: Beacon Hill 2 CC Strikers 3
5th April

Rather sadly for us this was the 'Leighto Show'. With save after save, Leighton Cant kept us in the match.

However, we went down 2 to 3 & this score-line flattered us!! If Leighto hadn't had the game of the season (in just match 1) we would have been belted & he even saved a penalty!

Our back 4 found it very difficult to find any distribution. The first 15 minutes saw Strikers 'bash us round the park'. I hope players new to AL 1 now know how tough you must be!!!!!

Quite a few players wilted against more experienced and physical opponents. A lot of work, together, is required before any points come our way.

Goals to Tommy Dagostino & Ben Southgate.

Best for Beacon were: Leighton Cant; Anderson ('Ando') Lessing; Tommy Dagostino.

AL1 First Grade: Beacon Hill 0 CC Strikers 1
5th April

Playing against a team we beat 4 to 0 in a trial 3 weeks ago, we dropped 3 points in a rather tragic 0 to 1 loss!!

With a player sent off and more than a quarter of match time left, we held our own and looked like a draw was imminent or even jagging a win! Yet a late free kick found its way round the wall & into the net!!

Even with just 10 men we nearly won the match with a superb pass from Tim Ottaway finding Josh Dale, Josh heading superby at the net but 'luck's a fortune' as a Striker headed the ball out as it almost crossed the goal-line.

It was a game we should never have lost!!!!! Poor discipline must be addressed if we are to pick up points!!!!!
We cannot continue on as we did last season and let wins slip away!!

Best for Beacon were: Glen McBurnie; Daniel Burns; John Whittle.

This game was enough to give team administrators ulcers. We cannot throw points away and expect to make the Finals, even this early in the season.
