Wow what a great game to watch.

I think every parent from both teams spent the entire game on their feet and enjoyed the match.

Briedella Wiggins and Jaimi Coleman scored a goal each. Tara Harris and Brooke Romer were our super goalies, great job girls. Caitlyn Cooper, Tara Gavin, Anisha Sawiad and Eliza Kolesnikov all worked really well together.

A big thank you to Stellar Hawke for filling in for us, we loved having her on the team

MVP of the Match was Briedelia Wiggins. Most Improved was Tara Gavin.

U13 Division 1
Beacon Hill Oval
Beacon Hill 4 v Harbord Seasiders 0

What a game!

You showed your true colours today as division 1 players - commitment, team cooperation and good communication lead to a fantastic win.

From a defensive perspective, the backs were impenetrable - well done Logan, Bec, Renee and Melissa. Although Melissa wasn't well today, she soldiered through the game and performed a fantastic save in goals in the first half. The first half also saw glimpses of Logan racing up the sideline to set up the enthusiastic halves and forwards.

The mid-field worked hard all day, setting the strikers up for the 5-0 victory. Anastasia's ball skills combined with the efforts of Cassie, Eliza and Ashley set the forwards up for a goal fest provided by Hannah, Mel and Emily. Hannah's ability to cross the ball so well throughout the game provided many scoring opportunities.

Many thanks to Georgia for playing a great game with the 1's today in replacement for Abbey. We wish Abbey well and hope for a speedy recovery.

Congratulations to Mel, Renee and Emily for their team awards today and for playing a fantastic game! A special thanks to our team Manager Rose for her generous contribution to the awards and ongoing support to the team.

A big thanks to our Coach, Mike, for his words of wisdom, continued commitment and dedication that has driven the girls to another win.

Well done Beacon Hill 13 - 1's and keep up the good work!

Ladies Over 35 Division 2
Kitchener Park, Mona Vale
Beacon Hill 3 v Pittwater 0

A great result, especially pleasing for the report writer, who after realising two of her fellow midfielders were unavailable for this match gave her apologies for her Father in Laws 80th Birthday lunch (sorry Ted!) to play. My reward was to play the full 90 minutes, for which I may be less grateful when attempting to get out of bed tomorrow!

Pittwater were a tough opponent and had obviously recruited some new players since we met them in the pre season. Their danger players were their central midfielders and well done to Mary who had a fantastic game filling Noeline's boots in the centre and keeping her opponent out of the game.

A strong game too from Tracey D who attacked strongly on the left wing and timed her passes to our strikers to perfection.

Our defence was awesome, with particularly strong games from Di and 'Player of the Match', Rosemary who kept turning defence into attack with her fabulous 'through balls'.

We had the upper hand in the first half and probably should have been up by 6 at half time. However we were reasonably content with the 2-0 score line (one apiece from Kerry and Jodie) at the break.

We were tested more in the 2nd half however held firm and sealed the result with yet another composed finish from Kerry. We certainly turned up for the full 90 minutes today.

One more game in the first round. A tough one for Kerry and Mary as we verse their old club, Forest. We then we get another crack at league leaders Wakehurst A. Bring it on!

Ladies Over 35 Division 3
Seaforth Oval
Beacon Hill A v Seaforth

What a fantastic game.

Seaforth started off their attacking game very strong and really tested Beacon Hill's defence. But the Beacon Hill defenders were too strong for Seaforth and prevented Seaforth from scoring all game.

Our sweeper this week Jane had a fantastic game, she cleared every ball that came her way, and our right, left and centre backs also proved too strong for the Seaforth girls.

Our midfield put some good balls through and our strikers had a few on target shots, unfortunately the Seaforth goalie was quick off the line and saved all Beacon Hill's attempts at goal.

Players of the Match were our sweeper Jane and right back Caz... both players have not played these positions before and did a remarkable job... the end score was Beacon Hill 0 Seaforth 0. It was a very quick and exciting game all around...

Sunday 9th May 2010
Under 10
Careel Bay, Avalon
Beacon Hill All-Stars 0 v Pittwater Starlets 3

The Beacon Hill Under 10 All Stars arrived at Careel Bay on a beautiful Mothers' Day morning and the players all looked keen for a big match. The game started at a furious pace and Kyla did a great job in goal making some good early saves. Grace and Marina keep the pressure on Pitts with some great attacking runs. Bella and Sascha were fantastic in defence and looked cool under pressure. Chiara was very keen in attack and defence and tried to deliver her mum a Mother's Day goal. Madeline and Neve were never far from the ball giving 100% effort for their team. Bronte and Michaela were always looking to pass the ball forward and were also great in defence. Isabella showed great skill when dribbling and Annika was a constant danger up front in the first half. The All-Stars defended bravely however found themselves down 0-2 at half time.

Coach Lachlan gave some encouragement while Coach Sam controversially told the girls if they didn't score a goal, their mums would not love them anymore... This seemed to spark the All-Stars who played their best half of the year so far. They attacked and defended as a team and Madeline was brilliant in goal and made many saves Mark Schwarzer would have been proud of.

Unfortunately they could not deliver their mums a goal and went down bravely 0-3.
Chiara was deservedly Player of the Match after a great all round game.

The Mums said after the game, they enjoyed the game so much and that they still loved their daughters!

Beacon Hill Swans 1 v Forest Killarney Emeralds 7

Our Swans put up another good fight on Sunday - the Emeralds got away from us and we lost by 5 goals.
Jamie Coleman was our only goal scorer.

Anisha Sawaid and Melanie Wearing did a fabulous job in goals. Caitlyn Cooper and Brooke Romer were terrific in defence and Tara Gavin and Tara Harris were right in there making the Emeralds work hard for their points.

Our most valued player of the match is Grace Wiles who had a super game.

Briedelia Wiggins and Elizabeth Kolesnikov had a great game they all worked really well together.

Women's Premier League
Beacon Hill v Pittwater
First Grade: Loss 2 -1
Reserve Grade: Loss 1 -0

Photo: Beacon Hill v Pittwater

This week's challenge was to go up against Pittwater missing six players from the squad but Beacon Hill were up for the challenge and didn't let its supporters down and although we recorded losses in both grades we took away many positives that will only make us stronger in future rounds.

The First grade was a fairly even event and we were starting to make good progress and pressuring the opposition when two quick direct penalties were awarded against us and all of a sudden we were down 2-0. Pittwater should have gone on with it but couldn't as our ladies fought on gamely in the second half and were finally rewarded with a nice goal from the boot of Chloe but in the end we ran out of time. It was a disappointing end in a game that was there to be won.

Photo: Beacon Hill v Pittwater

Our reserve grade game was very evenly matched with Laura, Tegan and Kathy bossing up the midfield with great control. Pittwater battled on well down our left and a nice shot from them rebounded off our keeper to be tapped in. We continued to pressure, kept composed but today wasn't meant to be ours. In all a great game to watch.

Ladies O35 Div 2
Lionel Watts Oval, Frenchs Forest
Beacon Hill 5 v Wakehurst B 1

Photo: Ladies O35 Div 2 - Beacon Hill v Wakehurst B

A strong start by the team with fantastic passing netting us our first goal within two minutes and four more to follow in the first half. A hat trick again from Jodie plus two from 'Player of the Match', Kerry.

Great runs down the wing and crosses from Maz and Tracey D. We missed our attacking central midfielder Noeline, who is in the U.S for a couple of weeks and normally runs the opposition ragged in their attempts to mark her as she never stops moving.

Our defence didn't have a great deal to do and had the opportunity to push up and help in attack. Debra was still sporting a black eye from last week's head clash that seemed to encourage the opposition to keep their distance from her. She looked pretty scary!

A disappointing 2nd half as we started to crowd each other and make too many first time kicks. The Wakehurst ladies pegged one back from a free kick and that was the only score in the 2nd half.

With a few tough games coming up we need to remember to play for the full 90 minutes. However sitting second on the table and with goals for and against currently 24/3 after five games we are proud of our efforts so far this season.

Sunday 9th May 2010
Ladies O35 Div 3 A
Tristram Road, Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill A 0 v BTH Raiders A 1

Photo: Ladies O35 Div 3 A

A beautiful autumn afternoon was the setting for last year's grand final rematch against BTH Raiders. Mothers Day breakfasts enjoyed, our girls were ready to play.

The game started with a nervous Helen in goals for the first time, and a solid defensive line of Kerrie L, Kerri Z, Rose & Kylie helping her out. The midfield with Maria, Lisa Tyrrell, Grace & Caz worked hard to win possession and move the ball up field for our forwards Liz & Lisa Thompson to press for goals. Sam & Jane came on and made valuable contributions in attack and defence.

The second half saw a few positional changes and the girls continued to press the opposition's goal with some close attempts narrowly not converted. In the end, it came down to a lucky bounce of the ball and a well taken chance by BTH Raiders with the Beacon Hill ladies undeservedly losing a close game. Not to worry, there's always the second round of the competition to plan our revenge!!

The loss did nothing to dampen our spirits and the Fair Maidens continued our Mothers Day celebrations enjoying several glasses of champers along with cheese and dips!

A special thanks to our stand in Coach, Eric, who did a great job and Sam for organising our inaugural meat raffle – won by Lisa Thompson.

Due to Maria's amazing powers of persuasion, she was able to secure another sponsor and each 'Fair Maiden' was presented with personalised sports bag – great job Maria! A very big thank you to Dee Why Glass for their generous support.

Lastly, our 'Manager Extraordinaire' – Lisa Koopman, who does an amazing job, was presented with flowers as a small token of the team's appreciation for all her hard work.

Under 10 Swans
Boondah Oval, Warriewood
Beacon Hill Swans 3 v Avalon Starfish 7

Welcome to our new player Liza Kolesnikov.

The Swans were up against a very talented team this week. Credit has to go to our two fabulous goal keepers Briedelia Wiggins and Tara Gavin without their efforts we would have a lot more goals scored against us. Thank girls.

Although we lost, the girls tried their best (secretly I think a few more weet-bix for breakfast may have helped). Even still credit to our 3 goal scorer's Jaimi Coleman, Brooke Romer and Melanie Wearing, I have to mention Caitlyn Cooper for her super boot which got us out of trouble a few times.

Tara Harris, Grace Wiles, Anisha Sawaid and Eliza Kolesnikov, were all over the ball when they needed to be - good effort.

Our MVP was given to Brooke Romer.

Women's Premier League Update
Beacon Hill Oval
Beacon Hill v Manly Vale A
First Grade: Loss 2-1
Reserve Grade: Win 2-0

It's amazing what can happen in a week of football as our squad looks to have lost two key first grade players due to injury and we all hope that both Sam and Kristen make a speedy recovery. This coupled with other key first graders injured and carrying injury and Kara being on Honeymoon meant that effectively we were down 5 key players in first grade which meant our reserve team would be called upon to backup.

The First grade game was a see sawing event from the start and it took us time to settle into routine and it was basically between the 30th and 40th minutes that this game was decided as Vale scored at the 31st minute with Beacon responding at the 36th minute with a great ball through from Larissa to Chloe to finish. Two minutes later Vale scored to make it 2-1 at halftime. The second half was a scrappy event with opportunities for both teams, but neither could capitalize on. Special mention to Jess who played a blinder at right back.

Photo: Beacon Hill v Manly Vale A

Our reserve grade team came up against another seasoned opponent but pressured early and a nice Laura E free kick saw Claire in space to score after 9 minutes. Kathy kept the team in shape and at the 40th minute placed a perfect cross in for Laura W to finish on the full volley which even the Vale keeper acknowledged. There was another sound effort by Janelle in goals and Aimee started to really show her potential.

Sunday 2nd May 2010
Ladies O35 Div 2
Tristram Rd, Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill 3 v Manly Vale 0

On a roll now with 3 wins in a row.

A frustrating first half with numerous opportunities and shots on goal that just wouldn't find the back of the net. Also tough for our defence who were looking right into the sun. Debra had a nasty head clash with an opposing player mid way through the first that took her out for the rest of the game.

The second half saw both teams lift and Lisa P was needed to make a couple of fine saves in goal. We had some early chances to score thanks to great positional play from Tracey D, however once again the ball refused to go in the net.

We finally broke through about 20 minutes into the half with a cracker of a goal from Kerry. Jodie provided another a few minutes later and a great series of passes between the mids and forwards allowed first time scorer Linda to slot home our third. This was cause for great celebration and a well deserved reward for all her hard work during this and previous games.

A big wrap too for our trusty defensive team, led by our always reliable sweeper Danielle. Such a relief to hear the familiar call 'Danielle's here' just before the ball goes flying into the oppositions half. Fantastic too to have lovely Di back this year after a few years break. She slots into the defence wherever needed and has a great understanding of the game. Player of the match was our fearless right fullback Julie who is always first to the ball and is well known for her awesome defensive headers.

A challenging and rewarding game. Thanks to coach Chris and manager Russell for looking after us. Thanks also to the great encouragement from the 'two Mikes' on the sideline. A friendly reminder to all our offspring that next Sunday is Mothers Day! Forget the chocolates, just come and cheer us on.

Sunday 2nd May 2010
Ladies O35 Division 3 A
Millers Reserve, Manly Vale
Beacon Hill A 2 v Manly Allambie 0

Well, Sunday's game was a hot one!

The match started out with Manly Allambie down one player on the field which didn't deter them from playing a solid game against Beacon Hill. The first half saw Beacon Hill Striker Lisa Thompson score a fantastic goal. A Manly Allambie player was injured in the first half and the remainder of the game was played with 9 players.

The defence at the back on both teams was strong. The play throughout the mid field and on the wings showed good passing. The second half saw Lisa Thompson score another goal for Beacon Hill – great play! The final score for the match was 2-0 to Beacon Hill.

Lisa Tyrrell was named 'Woman of the Match' for Beacon Hill for her versatility in playing various positions. Congratulations to Manly Allambie for playing a great game!
