BHFC – LADIES SUCCESS

What a year for the Beacon Hill Football Club's Women's Teams. The 35/2's winning both the Major Premiership and Grand Final in penalty shoot out, Beacon Hill joining the Premier League competition, the Premier League Reserves going all the way to win their Grand Final in a penalty shoot out and our registrations in women's football continue to increase with the newly formed 35/3's "mums" team joining our club this season. Congratulations to all on a fantastic 2010 season.

We had a good start to the 1st half holding out several Forest attacks in the first 15 minutes.

As the game started to settle down we were able play our own game, we went to the half time break at nil all.

The second half was just as exciting as the 1st as the more possession we had the better the team started playing.

This was probably the best half we had played all season at the right time on the right day. Our goal came 15 minutes from time after some excellent plays had Forest on the back foot.

Final score a 1-0 win to Beacon Hill.

This season has been a sensational team effort by the WU16-3's and we have achieved so much this year by becoming Major and Minor champions. I am proud to be part of this team as a coach as these girls have shown strength, determination and a team bond this year that has allowed them to succeed.

Congratulations girls.

Beacon Hill Ladies O/35 Div 2 Grand Final vs Wakehurst A.
4-3 win on penalties

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies O/35 Div 2 Grand Final vs Wakehurst After winning the Major Premiership we were thrilled to also qualify for the Grand Final against Wakehurst A, who we were yet to beat this season.

We knew we would need to fight hard. So at full time the score was locked at 0- 0 and the same after 20 minutes of extra time.

We knew what we had to do and after eight players from each team taking penalty shoots we were victorious 4-3 in the end.

Congratulations to Mary, Noeline and Tracey C who were successful as our 1st, 3rd and 5th penalty takers respectively.

The final word goes to our wonderful Goalie Lisa Peterson who slotted home the winner straight after saving two consecutive Wakehurst attempts.

What an epic day that will remain in our memories forever. 16 local ladies aged between 36 and 53 who have had an absolutely fabulous season of laughter, friendship and soccer.

Thank you to our awesome coach, Chris Cassettari, manager Russell Cragg, our family, friends and the committee members who came to offer support.

Thank you also to Julie and John Wright who hosted the after party. Congratulations to Linda who was voted 'most improved', Noeline who was voted 'best team player' and our wonderful sweeper Danielle who was voted 'players player' by their team mates.

Back to Division 1 we go next season!

Sunday 15th August 2010
Ladies Over 35's Div 3
Seaforth Oval 1
Beacon Hill 0 Manly Vale 2
(Round Robin-Semi-Final)

This was the game the Fair Maidens of Beacon Hill needed to win to make the grand final 2 years running. Alas it was not to be!

The match and the effort of the Fair Maidens did not reflect the final score, a fact even recognised by the Manly Vale coach.

Beacon Hill fought hard for the ball, passed beautifully and set up many great plays. Throughout the game the ball was fed down the wings with great crosses back to the middle of the pitch for shots at goal. Our defence was solid and Di our goalkeeper saved many attempts by the opposition.

Every Beacon Hill player should be proud of their effort shown today on the field and be extremely proud of being Premiership Runners Up for 2010.

Many thanks to our tireless coach, Vince Vescio and our assistant coaches, Fab Vescio and Eric Pollard. A big hug to Lisa Koopman, the most amazing manager that any team could wish for.

Sunday 15th August 2010
Women's Premier League
Cromer Park
Reserve Grade Semi Final
Beacon Hill 2 Pittwater 1

Playing Semi Final football is quite different to the regular season and against Pittwater always makes for a tough tussle but this squad is well equipped and has come up against the best and beaten the best in all conditions so today was just another day at the office and to make it even more challenging we had to concede a direct penalty and chase them down.

To be the dominant team in a rain and hail affected first half and be down a goal, in a semi against a strong side could simply break a side, but not this team.

Women's Premier League - Beacon Hill v Pittwater

We came out after half time and scored early and just kept at them and as much as Pittwater gave out we gave it back until they gave in.

We took the lead and we were not giving it back. Today was our day because that's the way we decided it was going to be.

We go into this week's final as the underdog against the highly fancied Manly Vale and that's just the way we like it.

Sunday 8th August 2010
Women's Premier League
Careel Bay 1
Beacon Hill v Avalon
First Grade: Win 2-0
Reserve Grade: Win 1-0

Well we have finally come to the end of the regular season and for Beacon Hill I have to say we have excelled in our first year as a Premier League squad.

We have weathered many storms throughout the season with a higher than normal injury toll and our challenge in some weeks was to field two competitive teams and to our clubs credit we were always supported by our junior ladies from our under 16 squad which gives us great confidence moving forward.

The First grade team played the full 90 minutes today and dominated all over the park and were unlucky not to win by a greater margin and well done to Emily Susanna on your First Grade Debut.

No matter what odds you have been up against this season you have taken on the challenge with spirit and determination and we are all proud of you.

Our Reserve Grade applied pressure early and were also unlucky not to win by a greater margin and their hard work and consistency this season has paid off with a semi final birth this Sunday against Pittwater, so the best of luck to you all and lets bring on a game.
