U12 Division 3
Beacon Hill Oval
Beacon Hill 3 v Pittwater RSL 4
With Beacons in third place playing Pittwater in second a great game was expected and we all weren't to be disappointed. From the whistle the play was all over the field with both teams producing great footy. Callum scored the first of the team's goals with a neat kick over the goalies head after tremendous teamwork in the middle of the park. A second goal came from Doug's boot, who is making a habit of being in the right place to find the net, scoring a goal in three consecutive games! Each time Beacons found the net the Pittwater team bounced back with a goal; with the Beacon backs under constant pressure from the opposition and in turn David in goals being extremely busy diffusing attacking raids. A reoccurring injury to Ethan soured the first half. Half time was 2 all.
The boys were fired up for a busy second half, but Pittwater got the first goal with a dubious referee decision where a blatant offside resulted in a goal. From that goal the intensity of the Beacon boys dropped slightly and the opposition scored again. The Beacon boys never gave up though and a further goal to Callum really lifted the Beacon boys and they were very unlucky not to get another goal with some great scrapping up front from Adam, Brandon, Cameron and Hugo in the mid. A draw would have been a fair result as the whole Beacon team tried very hard and deserved a draw at least, but the score showed a 4-3 loss at final whistle.
Player of the Week was goalie David as he showed the typical no fear body on the line in saving many shots at goal. Though the opposition scored four goals, the muddy cow paddock ground conditions made it all the more difficult and this was where David showed great skill in goals with some inspiring goalie work. Many thanks to U12/4 for the loan of Hugo and Lachlan as their contributions were fantastic. Hugo showed great skills in the midfield and Lockie was busy in the backs.

U13 Division 3
Tristram Road Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill 1 v Pittwater 0
A hard match against the Pittwater RSL team; the entire first half was played all over the field, both teams being very equal in performance. Numerous runs at goal by the opposition were thwarted by goalie Jasper who chose to play in goals for both halves. Some great shots at goal by Jason, Alara and Jacob were either taken by the goalie or knocked to safety by Pittwater.
The second half had plenty of action, one play finally paying off with a spectacular goal from Rebecca. A penalty kick at goal from Tim almost made it in, the ball bounced off the goal post, went back into play where Megan passed to Georgia then to Abbey who almost got a foot to it. Jason has a late run at goal, his shot saved by the excellent Pittwater keeper. We look forward to a rematch with a full team next week as the round 7 wash-out replay against Pittwater is scheduled.

U10 Division 4
Tristram Road, Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill 3 v Manly Allambie 3
Do you know those games that are special, not for the win or the loss, or even in the case of a draw?
Those games where the score doesn't matter because the game itself was a true pleasure for everyone.
Well for the Beacon Hill U10 Div 4 on the 17th of July this game will go down as one of these.
It actually started just like any other game, with a warm-up, a placing of the players and a kick off. But from this point it turned into something special. Well, I say special but for the first 1/2 of the first 1/2 there were two goals scored against the Blues. The first one was pretty soft and the only reason it got in was because some of the Blues were out of position, but the second was most deservedly obtained by Manly Allambie United Football Club. It was at this point that the Blues kicked into gear and stepped up a notch. Sure they had been playing well up until this point - but now they started to play an extraordinary game.
Marko was all over the field and was tackling the players and taking the ball from them which was making everything all that much easier for the rest of the team.
Playing in the Sweeper position was the ever determined Zeplen. Zeplen has the uncanny knack to make the tackle when it is needed, and if the truth be known it takes a very skilful player to get past him. There were numerous times when he would tackle the opposition when they were running for the goalie.
The first to score was Adam. Adam received the ball between his legs after tackling one of the Manly Allambie players for it, and took it all the way to the other end of the field. And when he was there he powers it into the goals to give us our first goal of the game and to be only one goal behind.
Blake is never to be said to lack enthusiasm as he is boundless in his energy to get the job done. And do that job Blake just does. With a usual somewhere in the middle and close to defence Blake is unafraid to tackle even the strongest players - and much of the time he does get the ball off them.
We have to remember that there is more to winning this game than scoring goals because saving goals is just as important.
And the main way to save a goal is to not let the opposition close to the goal in the first place. In this Joshua has been playing in the Stopper position for a few weeks now because of his reliability in always giving it his best and being capable to get in the way of the other team. Playing here is suiting him well because he is getting results for the team that is being noticed.
In the second half Matthew, who played a really good first half, somehow was everywhere on the field. Sure he was playing in defence, and sure he was keeping the attacking players out of his wing, but he was pushing up strongly and getting into the opposition. So well in fact that he won the Player of the Day trophy and very deservedly so.
Joel played in Goals in the first half and his always energetic attitude does so much good for him. He takes every attack on the goal personally and defends against it as if his very life depends upon a good outcome. Well in this second half Joel who was playing a forward position was saving more goals as a second sweeper than could be believed. It is only his endless energy that allows him to get away with this, and he does it with such determination. In fact the coach has decided to switch his position to more of the midfield after this game because this suits his style more - the desire to be in the thick of all of the action.
The second goal was scored by Owen and this must be said to the goal that the whole team scored. Right from the strong defence to bringing the ball to the oppositions goal, the whole team was involved. And in keeping the ball in the oppositions goal mouth and passing it around looking for the weakness - the whole team had their hand in it. And when it came to striking the ball into the back of the net Owen made no mistake of it.
Lachlan is a solid defender and he has stopped numerous attacks by the oppositions. Lachlan serves the team with an open heart and a big tackle.
And this ended the first half and the team got into a huddle to receive encouragement from the coach. The Coach directed them to where they should be on the field and Terry the stand in gave the team some specific things that they should be doing, and looking out for. And so the second half started in earnest.
Adams second goal, and the teams third was even more spectacular than the first. Again he tackled a Manly Allambie player for the ball and again he ran down the field to score. But this time they were close on his heels and jostling him for the ball, pushing Adam they were determined to tackle him. But Adams speed got him beyond the opposition and he powered the ball into the back of the net.
Stella had a stellar (OK, if she gets a dollar every time she has heard that joke she would have close enough to buy a new car) game and was in the goals for the second half of the game. She played up front for the first half of the game and attacked like only a football player does. She may be one of the lone girls in her year who still plays with the boys - but this surely is for a reason. And in the goals Stella kept that ball out and not another goal was scored by the opposition.
Isaac has shown his versatility in this game and has gone from the middle to the front, and all positions in between. In the first half he played the attacking centre forward and was pulled back into the Stopper position while Zeplen took a break. And right at the end he took up a forward position seeking out a goal.
Sean with his mighty left boot plays on the left wing and finds the ball consistently nearby. He is skilled to take the ball and take it up the field to give the forwards the best chance that they can have. Also in this game he has taken the goal kicks which has resulted in him playing back and forward a lot - but he is never one to shy away from a task.
Kingsley is so confident in the game and has played superbly for the entire game. He is without doubt one of the fearless players of the team and never shies away from the opposition, indeed even running and tackling them before anyone else.
Being able to play wherever he is required is one of Jacob's greatest assets - and this was exploited in this game. Sticking to the middle of the field he tackled and tackled the opposition, fighting at every opportunity to keep the ball down the opposition end of the field.
And at the end of the game it was a very entertaining 3 all draw.
All of the parents marvelled at the skill of the team and ooooh'd and ahhhhh'd at the skills and determination that everyone put forward.
Yes this was one of those special games, not for the result but for the game itself.

U12 Division 3
Collaroy Plateau Park
Beacon Hill 3 v CC Strikers B 2
With just a full team to play on the paddock and no subs, this was to be a test for the Beacon boys.
From the kick off, the boys looked really good and made many breaks down both flanks, but the ball wasn't to find that elusive net.
Playing against a team at the bottom of the table, the Beacon boys needed to be careful not to assume that a win was theirs. Adam, Brandon, Callum, Cameron and Doug all had shots at goal without reward.
Continued pressure up front resulted in two first half goals, the first one from Doug's boot down the left flank, his second in two games and Callum also scoring.
Beacons defence was also solid, with Ben playing sweeper, Tyler and Jamie left & right back and Ethan at centre back all playing great. In the mid Beau and Cameron was in the thick of play everywhere. The Beacon goals were the result from fantastic teamwork by the whole team. A minor indiscretion at the rear resulted in a CC goal later in the half. Half time was 2 – 1 to Beacons.
The boys looked weary at the break, but needed to continue as the bench was bare. Beacons were first to score in the second half with Callum breaking through the CC defence with great skill and awesome pace to find the net. The forwards were unlucky not to score more goals. With our boys tiring CC's started to gain momentum and broke through with another goal. Fulltime score was a 3-2 win to Beacon.
Player of the Week went to Doug as he is playing with confidence down the left flank. Doug has started scoring goals and was very unlucky not to get a double today when the ball went across the front of goal after beating the goalie. His positional play has improved of which is showing in the breaks being made and results in being very involved in the play.

U12 Division 4
David Thomas, Manly Vale
Beacon Hill 2 v Manly Vale 1
Saturday July 17 was a gorgeous sunny day and despite being short 3 players, we enlisted the services of Anton Bonacci to fill in and what a star he turned out to be!!
The Bonacci brothers combined well early to put pressure on Manly Vale's goal but good defence by them blocked our attempts. Possession swept from one end to the other as both teams tried to make their mark on the game in the early stages but both sides remained scoreless for much of the first half.
Finally a great cross by Christian led to a scrum of players in front of goal with a flurry of shots made by several players when Ryan finally made contact and put the ball into the back of the net. Solid defence again from Mitchell, John and fantastic saves from Lyon kept our goal intact. Lyon under intense pressure made an amazing save from a penalty kick from right in front. HALF TIME 1-0.
Lachie defended out of his skin and kept the ball away from Manly Vale goal time and time again. Great play from Jarrod and the rest of the midfield with Ryan putting on some fantastic bursts of speed to chase down many loose balls.
Another break from Christian almost led to a goal after a period of furious arm wrestle between the two teams. Then a fantastic cross from Lyon which Hugo narrowly missed the shot on goal. Then Hugo and Anton combined brilliantly to put the ball in the net but a close offside saw the goal disallowed. Anton made no mistake minutes later with a brilliant shot from 20m out to take us to 2-0.
Superb defence throughout from Lachie gave him Man of the Match honours but also credit to Neil, John and Jayden who was fantastic in goal for the second half. Only a little lapse towards the end led to a Manly Vale goal with the final score being 2-1.

U13 Division 3
Terrey Hills Oval
Beacon Hill 1 v CC Strikers 2
It was a perfect weekend for soccer in Sydney, with blue skies, sunshine and crisp clear weather.
It was the first game back after a break for both teams and it looks like the CC Strikers were going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Tim played in goals first half and Jasper the second half. Both had a very busy time of it and made some great saves on the day.
Jason made the first attempt at goal for the game and it only missed by a whisker.
It was followed by two quick goals by CC Strikers in the first half and BH got fired up with Jason scoring an answering goal in the second half.
CC Strikers had to desperately defend against Jason and Jacob's 8 brilliant goal attempts through the course of the game as well as compete against persistent defence and attack from the rest of the team.
A very exciting game to watch!

U16 Division 2
Beacon Hill Oval
Beacon Hill 5 v Wakehurst 1
This weekend Beacon Hill 16/2's met Wakehurst at home.
The boys quickly settled into their game and produced some excellent football in the first half. Josh Malcom, Josh Carlson and Michael Hegarty played well together in the centre. They were supported by the always reliable Cameron Pooley (who seems to be really enjoying getting his head on the ball) and Alex who moved to the ball at every opportunity and committed to every tackle.
When the half time whistle was blown, Beacon Hill were up 4 goals to nil. The second half started with less commitment and the team seemed to lose its shape. A goal by Wakehurst and a few kind words of encouragement from Rosco and Archie on the sideline, helped Beacon Hill regain the structure to their game.
Some good play towards the end of the second half resulted in a full time score of 5 - 1.

U12 Division 3
Tristram Road, Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill 5 v St. Augustines A 0
With it being Stephen's last game of the season before going overseas the whole Beacons team really wanted to send him off on a winning note.
The boys were switched on from the whistle and keen to continue the form from last week with some more goals. Three first half goals were the result of great teamwork by the boys, with Brandon scoring a double and Doug scoring a great goal. It was Doug's first goal this year after good lead up and passing through the mid and left flank. The whole team were playing great footy across the park.
Two second half goals by Beacons with Brandon scoring one to give him a hat trick for the game and Cameron scoring his first goal for the year with a super kick. The forwards were unlucky not to score a heap more goals with Stevie playing up front for the second half unlucky not to get a double along with Adam and Callum had shots deflected by the Saints goalie. Fulltime score was a 5-0 win to Beacon.
Player of the Week went to Brandon as he was hungrier than ever to see the ball in the net with his hat trick of goals. His positional play was great and showed great skills up front as the midfield and backs continued to push the play forward. Good to see first up goals for the year to Doug and Cameron. It was a great team effort from goalie to the forwards with each and every player contributing to the win.
Saturday 3rd July 2010
U12 Division 4
Tristram Road, Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill Blues 1 v Curl Curl 0
From the whistle the boys dominated field position with great attacking spending most of the first half in the opposition half. A terrific team effort with lots of passing and some individual breaks, Leon dropped a great corner right in front of goal but unfortunately it could not be put away for a goal.
The first half saw Leon, Christian and Ryan have shots which were either miss hit off target or saved by the keeper. Robbie was in goals for the first half but only touched the ball a couple of times due to some good work by Lewis, John, Mitchell, Neal, Jarrod, Hugo and Lauchlan. Half time 0-0.
The second half started much the same as the first although Curl Curl had lifted slightly and were starting to make some ground, Jayden was in goals in the second half and with Curl Curl having a few shots was kept on his toes and was up to the task, Ryan made a break up the left and took it all the way to a shot but unfortunately was saved, then Leon made a good run down the wing and passed the ball in to Barney who found the net for a goal. BH 1 - 0.
The remainder of the game saw the ball going from one end of the field to the other and a late charge by Curl Curl with only a minute or two left in the game saw Jayden stretched and have to make a great save to keep the score at full time to BH 1 Curl Curl 0.
Everyone tried really hard today and played well keep it up boys.
Man of the Match this week goes to Jayden, well done on the field first and in goals second half.
