Weekend 9/10th August 2008

U10/1: Beacon Hill 2 Mosman 0

The Beacon Hill team was looking at continuing their recent good form for today's game against Mosman.

From the start the play was all over the park with great attack & defence from both teams. Some good passing up field from the midfield to the forwards resulted in Jonathon being in the right spot in the goal mouth & scoring the first goal. The play went Mosman's way downfield from the restart, where great scrambling defence from Rhys resulted in a corner to Mosman. From the corner a hand ball by BH resulted in a direct free kick. David saved the penalty with some neat keeping which really gave the BH boys a lift. Soon after the play went up field, where through some great passing Darcy scored a neat goal to lead at half time 2 - 0.

The second half continued with great attacking raids up front & some desperate defence by Beacons. A second direct penalty saw Mosman push the ball into the crossbar and then be cleared away by David. The best goal scoring opportunities for the second half were from Callum, Lachlan & Nicholas, but last line of defence by Mosman saw no further goals to BH. Hayden at centre back, Rhys & Ned in the midfield were strong in defence & attack.

The player of the week trophy went to Lachlan, who was everywhere in attack & defence playing in the midfield. Lachy has been playing very consistent footy this year & was unlucky to not score. The 2 - 0 win is a reward for the Beacon Hill boys, as they have been playing great football over recent weeks & getting some wins. Let the good work & enthusiasm continue till the end of season.

Weekend 2/3rd August 2008

U10/1: Beacon Hill 5 Forest Killarney 0

From the outset the game were to be very even game with both teams on the same points in the comp.

From the whistle the play was all over the park from both teams. BH was playing into the wind first half which made for tough conditions. Some great ball work & passing up front from Darcy, Callum & Jonathon allowed Jonathon to slot a neat goal. During the first half great defence work in the midfield & at the back helped keep the score Beacons way 1-0 at drink break.

In the second half with the wind behind BH the boys were on attack, though the Forest opposition was playing strong. The passing & positional play was outstanding & a feature from the whole team; as they were really playing great teamwork. It would be unfair to leave anyone out from the great result. Great attack raids up front led to second half goals to Nicholas, Jordan, a second to Jonathon & a penalty from Darcy saw Beacons come away with their season's best result. Cameron, Adam, Hayden & Rhys were strong in defence & attack at the back. Callam, Ned, Lachlan, & Luke were very busy in the midfield keeping forest in check. Brilliant works in goals from David including a spectacular penalty save, kept Forest scoreless.

The player of the week trophy went to Nicholas, who saw plenty of balls up front. Nick was busily involved in attack, was on the spot to slot a goal in the second half from a typically great corner kick from Hayden. The game result of 5 - 0 win is just reward for the Beacon Hill players, as they have been playing great football over recent weeks, without the right results. Let the good work & enthusiasm continue till the end of season.

U10/6: Beacon Hill 2 BTH Raiders 0

The boys trekked out to a cold and windy Terrey Hills for an 8.20am game to face second placed Belrose Terrey Hills (BTH) with the prize of finishing the regular season with an undefeated record on the line.

It was clear from the first whistle that the boys were keen to maintain this record. Despite an overwhelming territorial advantage in the first half some resilient defence held us to a single goal.

The boys maintained the pressure in the second half and were rewarded mid way through with a great long range shot to give us some breathing space at 2-0 which ended as the full-time score.

We look forward to meeting BTH again in the semi-finals as the game was played in great spirit.

Weekend 26/27th July 2008

U10/1: Beacon Hill 0 Brookvale 2

Playing the competition leaders in Brookvale this week, was to be tough ask, especially after defeating them in the first round.

From the whistle, Beacon Hill was under attack, this continued through the first half. The BH boys had to do a heap of defence. Brookvale scored a goal after a corner was not cleared & led 1-0 at half time.

A special mention goes to David in goals, who diffused & saved many attacking raids from Brookvale with great goalie work. David saw more ball today than in any other game this season. Though Brookie won 2 - 0, the score could have been easily a lot more, but for great defence from Hayden, Nicholas, Ned, Darcy, Cameron & the very reliable Rhys, who was outstanding at centre back. All the boys showed great team spirit & never gave up.

The player of the week went to Jordan, who was busily involved in attack, when the ball came forward. Jordan also had plenty of work to do in defence, when moved back later in the game. This game was always going to be a difficult game to win for BH. Poor decisions from the fill in ref against BH helped the opposition play immensely. Keep your heads up Beacon Hill.

U10/6: Beacon Hill 3 Forest Killarney 1

The game was played in great spirit with our opposition Forestville/Killarney very competitive.

Some muddy patches around the goal square made for challenging conditions but fun for all boys.

Despite the absence of 3 players due to the usual school holiday circuit the boys maintained their undefeated record with 3-1 win. Down an early goal the boys rallied with 3 quick responses.

The second half was goal-less and reflected a great defensive effort by both teams.

U12/1: Beacon Hill 2 Avalon 2

This week the boys turned up to a wet, soggy home field for the first game of the day to play Avalon, who have also been having a tough time since both teams were promoted from Division 2 after their grand final battle last year.

As anticipated, it was an exciting contest with the scores changing throughout the game from 1-0 to Beacon Hill, to 1 all, to 2-1 to Beacon Hill and finally a 2-2 draw. Thanks, boys from both teams, you warmed up an otherwise cold morning!

Thanks, too, to Tony Scicluna for filling in as referee for the game at very short notice.

Weekend 19/20th July 2008

U10/1: Beacon Hill 1 Seaforth 1

Well from the whistle, Beacon Hill was on the attack. Half way through the first half Darcy got onto a good ball from the midfielders & scored a great goal from a kick that went over the Seaforth goalie's head. Further opportunities were made through the opposition midfield, but unluckily for BH, no further goals were scored, though the attackers of Nicholas, Darcy, Jonathon & Jesse made chances up front.

The passing & positional play was outstanding & a feature from the whole team; as they were really playing great teamwork. It would be unfair to leave anyone out, Cameron; Adam & Rhys were strong in defence. Callam, Lachlan, Luke & Jordan were very busy in the midfield. David saved a couple of dangerous attacks with good goalie work. A special mention goes to Hayden, who played in the midfield for the first time & was very involved in all aspects of attack & defence. With only minutes to go & Seaforth attacking, sloppy clearance work from the BH goal area saw a Seaforth kick deflect of BH into the net for an own goal. This resulted in a 1 all draw.

The player of the week went to Adam, who was very involved particularly in defence & stopped many attacking raids from the opposition. Adam has been playing great football over the recent weeks & has really found his position in the defence line. This game was within minutes of a well deserved win to the Beacon Hill boys, but a simple lapse saw a draw. Well done to the whole team, as you are playing very positive football, bring on next weeks game.

U12/1: Beacon Hill 0 Seaforth 4

The boys looked like they were still in holiday mode during the first ten minutes, but soon warmed up to play a great first half particularly the defenders. Well played boys!

At half time we were down 1-0.

Unfortunately, we had two players away due to illness, therefore, no subs. The boys tired in the second half and Seaforth kept the constant pressure on.

The final score was 4-0.

Thanks again to the coaches for their continuing encouragement.

Weekend 5th/6th July 2008

U10/1: Beacon Hill 0 Narrabeen 2

Beacon Hill needed to be switched on today as they were playing the undefeated Narrabeen team.

Well from the outset the game was played at a fast pace with BH playing outstanding all over the park. Some changes in positions worked well. With Darcy playing faultlessly in goals in the first half, the score was nil all at half time. With the Beacon attack up front of Jesse & Lachlan & midfield area with Callum & Ned very busy & showing the way.

Ten minutes into the second half saw Narrabeen get a lucky break as BH scored an own goal from a corner kick, but this didn't deter BH, as they continued to attack & defend very well against tough opposition. Luke played the second half as goalie & did a great job as he was kept busy. The defence of Hayden, David & Rhys was really solid at the back. At full time the score ended up 2 - 0 to Narrabeen.

The player of the week went to Darcy, who was very involved in attack & defence in the second half after playing goalie in the first half. The BH boys are having a tough season, but are playing some great footy without much luck. This was another game that a draw was really achievable, but simple lapses cost the Beacons dearly.

U13/1: Beacon Hill 0 Wakehurst 3

Wow, what a great effort by our boys against the top team.

Beacon Hill are playing with enthusiasim and determination. The Wakehurst side had many an opportunity to white wash our boys but thanks to some fantastic defence and great goalkeeping the score was low.

Wakehurst scored 2 very soft goals and one convincing strike that was not going to miss. Well done to our forwards and mid feilders who ran with determination and a real want for a goal.

The U13/1 have had a very hard season and I know some wake up thinking "I don't want to be thrashed again this Sat", but keep your chins high boys because without all of you us parents would not have the joy of wacthing you play some fantastic soccer. We enjoy it and I hope you all keep enjoying it too. Keep going boys, we have continued faith in you and love our Saturday soccer.
