Grand Final

U13/3 – Major and Minor Champions

The U13/3A team has had a season that most can only dream about.

The boys went through the season undefeated.

Come the semi final they played on a field that was a bog & won on corner kicks in extra time to make the final.

So on to the final & Coach Damian had the boys really fired up ready for the big day.

The Beacon Boys came out from the whistle on fire & in the end came home with a hard worked 2 – 1 win.

All of the boys played very well, but man of the match was Captain Cameron Brown who showed great direction in the midfield.

The team's players are: David Adams, Christian Bonacci, Cameron Brown, Doug Chalmers, Callum Denmead, Ben Howarth, Tyler Jarvis, Brandon Koolloos, Stephen Melani, Adib Memari, Beau Shaw, Matthew Sussanna and Adam Warriner with Coach Damian Koolloos.

Winning the final capped off a sensational year for the Beacon Boys.

U13 Division 3

Beacon Hill A 1 v St. Augustines 1

U13 Division 3 - Sat 20th August 2011 - Beacon Hill A 1 v St. Augustines 1

As it had been pouring with rain for most of the preceding week, it was no surprise on arrival at Abbott Rd Curly to find the field an absolute bog. What wasn't under water was covered in mud. From the whistle the Beacon boys were on the attack in the slush & in the first half a goal was scored by Brandon. Many attacking raids ended up with the ball beating all the Saints players including goalie only to find that the ball stopped dead in the mud on the goal line. The atrocious playing conditions really evened up the play & slowed down the Beacon boys open play.

Come the second half & the intensity of play from the Saints had increased. Saints scored midway through the second half & at full time the score was 1 all. Again the ball just wouldn't get across the goal line for Beacons as there were many chances. Into extra time & the play was more Beacons way but again they couldn't score. Neither side could score the golden goal. Two corners in extra time was the difference that got Beacons into next week's final. All the players deserve mention as they all put in a great effort & never gave up considering the quagmire of field.

On to next week's final against Manly Vale. No pressure boys, just need to keep your seasons undefeated record intact.
Keep it up boys.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 13th August 2011 - Beacon Hill 0 v Harbord Seasiders 3

Our last match for the season started off well, Travis made a huge run into goal just after kick off, dodged around the goalie and struck hard; a bit too hard as the ball went just above the cross bar. Next it was our turn; Jacob made a terrific sideways diving save after a Harbord strike that was definitely going in. Harbord made several more determined attacks, one of them successful midway through the half. Beacon Hill had 3 more big runs into goal, each one stopped at the last second by the Harbord defence.

The second half saw Harbord score an early goal, our reply almost paid off; Tim dribbled in fast, kicked the ball well and it too went just over the goal. Jasper had a stint in goal about 20 minutes into the half and was in the thick of the action straight away; he made several big saves, only one got past him at lightning speed.

Great passing by Jason, Logan M and Brandon made the play move up the field whenever we had possession. Travis got a rebound off the Harbord goalie and struck hard, the ball went into the back of the net; everyone thought we had scored at last, the players were celebrating and then the ref blew the whistle to call offside. It was a mystery to us all.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 6th August 2011 - Beacon Hill 1 v St Augustine's B 0

The team was up early again for the second round against St Augustine's B; the first half was a mixed bag with several goal shots by Nathan, Jason and Harry; all were deflected by the opposition goalie. Jacob was in goals and made some perfect saves, the Saints attempts not even getting close.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Beacon Hill passing well and attack consistently. Megan and Liam were excellent at sending the ball through to Jasper and Logan M, their passing was spot on. Jasper got a great cross to Jason in the goal mouth who high-kicked it into the back of the net for our one and only goal!

Several more goal attempts were made; the closest was an accurate pass from Logan M to Tom who did a big kick at goal that just missed.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 30th July 2011 - Beacon Hill 2 v St Augustine's B 0

This was the replay of the wash out of Round 3; therefore we had not played this team this year.

Both sides seemed quite even at first; a few big runs almost had us scoring and Travis almost got one in, his strike just went off to the right of goal. After a great save, Jacob kicked the ball down field almost to the half way line to Harry; he jogged in and tapped the ball in for our first goal.

The second half had Jacob still in goal, his goal kicks were getting bigger and more accurate each time. One ball got all the way to Tim who was playing up the front; he dribbled into goal and made a perfect shot to score our second goal.

Georgia was on fire, making great plays up and down the near sideline. Some really good passing between Logan M, Megan and Liam was really showing the opposition how to play.

A few more near misses by Jasper, Jason and Logan C wrapped up our first win of the season!

U14 Division 2
Tania Park, Balgowlah Heights
Beacon Hill 1 v St Augustine's A 7

This was the replay of the wash out Round 12; played on a Sunday! We were 7 players down as other sports for some of the players and games for 4 of the girls took their toll. We were lucky that 4 of the 13-1's were available; Luke, Harlan, Oliver and Rhys were at Tania Park early and raring to go.

The first half had Beacon Hill on the back foot straight away; a quick goal by the Saints indicated that it would be a hard match. Beacon Hill kept them out for almost the entire half; St Augustine's got lucky just before the whistle after a wet ball slipped from Jacobs hands and was tapped into goal.

The second half saw the Saints attack again and again, 5 goals were scored in relatively quick time. Jacob was then released from the goals and Jasper went in; Jacob ran the ball all the way through the opposition a minute later and scored our only goal of the match!

The first half saw Beacon Hill make several big runs at goal with strikes by Travis, Brandon, Harry and a close header by Jasper all going very close to scoring. The first half was scoreless, with both great defence and Jacob making many saves throughout keeping Wakehurst from finishing off any plays.

During the second half, it was looking like no one was going to score when a determined Wakehurst scored 3 lucky goals in rapid succession in the latter stages of the match.

Saturday 25th June 2011
U13 Division 3
Boondah Rd, Warriewood
Beacon Hill A 1 v Narrabeen 1

From the kick off the Beacon boys looked lethargic & were not switched on at all. Maybe not having played for 3 weeks due to the rain & a bye may have contributed, but they were off. The attack had some opportunities but didn't convert. The defence was missing regularly & hence Narrabeen scored midway through the first half. Beacons down 1 goal at half time.

A rousing half time talking to from Coach Damien hopefully woke the boys up. The second half play improved a lot & some teamwork started to return. With the teamwork came some opportunities of shots at goal. The forwards started to work together & finally a goal came late in the game to Brandon after good lead up from Callum & Adib. The majority of the team improved dramatically as the second half, with Beau the standout. Players that were the pick of the BH team besides Beau who was everywhere were Brandon & Callum up front & Matthew as sweeper cleaned up many of the Narrabeen attacking raids. Final result 1 all draw.

Player of the week was Beau who was very involved in all the work of attack & defence in the midfield. Beau's play showed his teammates some direction & heart & it is a pity that some of his teammates couldn't follow his example.

This hopefully is a wakeup call to the team that they need to play as a team & make it happen as it won't just happen.

Beacon Hill 2 v Manly Vale 2

U14 Division 2 - Sat 25th June 2011 - Beacon Hill 2 v Manly Vale 2

Jacob was goalie for both halves, his many brave saves and calmness under pressure certainly won it for us. Just after kick off, Jason made a huge run up field; his strike going off the right of the goals. Brandon had a go only seconds later, his run stopped short by desperate defence. This decisive play paid off several minutes later; a big kick by Tim got the ball up to Jason, his fast running and cool approach made for an excellent goal as he dodged around the Manly Vale goalie and gave a short sharp kick to get us on our way.

The second half had Travis and Alara going forward on several occasions, our charges were thwarted by the Manly Vale backs. A chase by Tim back to our goal resulted in Manly Vale equalising about 10 minutes from full time. Great defence by Tom, Logan C and Jasper kept us in the opposition's territory for much of the match. We had an opportunity to get ahead after a Manly Vale hand ball in their goal square gave us a penalty kick; the ball was again stopped short before getting near the goal. Manly Vale responded with a quick goal; our time was running out and with a huge effort, Georgia got the ball up to Brandon, he dribbled toward goal, as the goalie came out to meet him, Brandon kicked the ball over the goalies head, the ball went into the back of the net for the equaliser! With only seconds to go, Manly Vale had a desperate attempt to get another goal, the Manly Vale striker got very near to scoring when Jacob made a terrific save and the final whistle blew seconds later.

Saturday 11th June 2011
U10 Division 4
Kitchener Park, Mona Vale
Beacon Hill v Cromer Strikers

What an exciting game played by the BH boys! Looks like training is really starting to pay off.

First half, BH kept the ball close to goal with great defence and team work. Many close goal attempts were made in quick succession. In the rare moments that the ball made it down the other end, BH quickly bought it back towards goal. There was a great goal save by Chris and a fabulous run by Cooper down the entire field, ending with a brave shot at goal. Ferdi made more than one amazing goal shot and Nick was right up there, too. Plenty of fancy footwork by Jeremy kept the ball in BH's possession.

In the second half, Nick scored a much deserved goal. Two strikers were struck down and our own Ferdi suffered a blow. The fast moving game kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Coach Sam called it "brilliant football" and said BH had played their best game so far. Ronan was Man-of-the-Match and Oscar, Ferdi and Chris got awards.

The first half had the play going our way for the first few minutes, Logan M made a big run at goal, her kick just going over the bar. Brandon charged toward goal a few minutes later, his strike was caught by the Avalon goalie. Jacob in goals made heaps of fearless saves, only 2 huge Avalon strikes made it past him.

The second half started well for us; the team was passing well, Liam, Alara and Nathan were getting the ball up to the forwards on many occasions, Jason was fast as usual and was unlucky not to score. Harry was in goals and did a sterling job, his big goal kicks got the ball out of danger and sometimes even over the half way mark. A hand ball penalty got Avalon a late half goal; a big kick saw Avalon rewarded with another only seconds before full time.

Beacon Hill 2 v Brookvale 3

The sun was shining, the day was warm and the boys put in a good effort in this match. Chris consistently provided that vital connection between the backs and the strikers, while Nick scored a fantastic long-range goal sending the ball into the top right-hand corner of the net. Jeremy, as always, was all over the field and in position when it mattered the most. There was a lot of good passing throughout the game, but one stand out pass was from Reece up through to Cooper who then went on to score the team's second goal.

Overall, they played well and there were a number of standout moments with some great soccer skills and good plays shining through. The one thing the boys could have improved on in this match was maintaining 100% focus throughout. There were a few times when the attention lapsed and the opposing team was quick to take advantage. Overall, though, it was great match.  Well done.

Beacon Hill A 5 v Seaforth 0

From the whistle the Beacon boys were on the attack & in the first half two goals were scored by Callum after great lead up through the centre mid & forwards. The boys play was scratchy at times & brilliant at other times. A number of corners were to be had by Christian & Stephen but no goals resulted. The team work of passing & finding the unmarked teammate at times was great & led to many attacking raids.

Come the second half & the intensity of play from the Beacon Boys had increased. There were many near misses at goals with shots to the side & over the crossbar. Second half goals to Adam, Callum for his trifecta & Doug made the final score 5 – 0. Players that were the pick of the BH team were, Brandon, Doug & Callum up front with Beau, Cameron & Adib in the midfield everywhere the ball was in both defence & attack.

Player of the week was Callum with 3 goals who made many breaks down the right hand side. Callum was running at will at times from deep in his own half down the flank. Again all the boys deserve mention as there is some awesome teamwork! Keep it up boys.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 4th June 2011 - Beacon Hill 2 v Pittwater RSL 2

This was a replay of the season opening match, but we were without Travis and Liam. Play was all over the field in the opening few minutes; both teams must have kicked the ball to every corner of the field. Beacon Hill then got their passing together and made Pittwater go into defensive mode.

Several attacks by Alara, Harry and Jason with great support from Jasper, Logan M, Nathan, Brandon and Rebecca finally paid off with a Jason goal about 5 minutes in. Pittwater replied with a couple of strong attacks, Tim thwarted a certain goal at the last second by overtaking a Pittwater striker and kicking the ball to safety. Jacob made a heap of great saves, not one ball made it past him in the first half

Tom was defending well, his throw ins are also getting bigger every week. Georgia was in fine form; a big header pushed the ball forward to Jason who ran fast into goal and scored again. Megan and Logan C were kept busy in the mid-field and won the ball on many occasions; this may have caused the Pittwater players to get a bit pushy at times, making for a few tense moments.

The second half had the spectators on the edge of their seats; as it was Beacon Hill's turn to defend as Pittwater attacked time and time again, finally scoring after a throw in. We had a couple of good shots at goal, but the ball just wouldn't go in again. Toward full time Pittwater equalised with a big kick into goal.

U9 Division 2 - Sat 28th May 2011 - Beacon Hill Tornadoes 7 v Swordfish Harbord 0

Down two valuable players, Lachie and Ben, the Tornadoes were slightly apprehensive going to field. But within minutes, it was clear that this was the win they’d been seeking since the start of the season. All the action was upfront, leaving Tom looking slightly bored as he manned the goal. Sean, Conor, Monique and Jessica fed some great balls to Angus, who converted them to two skilful goals. Jordan, the birthday boy, followed with another goal. At halftime, the Tornadoes were 3 up.

After a quick break (with no oranges – whoever forgot those?), the team was back on the field. Tom, bursting with pent-up energy, barrelled down the middle, scoring two more goals. Monique had slightly more to do in goal, dispensing efficiently of a few on-target strikes. Jordan added another goal to the tally, and Will topped off the game with a very impressive debut goal. Thanks to Matthew and Daniel from the Typhoons for helping us out. Jordan was Man of the Match. All in all, a fabulous team effort and a well-deserved win.

Beacon Hill A 9 v Forest Killarney 1

First game of the year on home soil at Beacon Hill Oval, so the boys should be revved up after training was washed out.

From the kick off Beacons were on attack & it wasn't long before Callum slotted a neat goal after great lead up work. A double of goals to both Adam & Brandon & an own goal from Forest had the Beacon boys very hungry for more goals.

The play from the whole team was really good to watch as the forwards & the midfield had plenty of ball & pushed forward at will. Beacons had the best of the attack where the play didn't get anywhere near goalie David in the first half. First half ended at 6 nil to Beacons.

After half time Forest came out & made Beacons fight harder for the ball. There were many opportunities for the boys, but good scrambling defence from Forest stopped an onslaught. Further goals to Doug (first for the year), Callum & Cameron in the second half pushed the score out. Forest never gave up & scored a goal with Adam protecting the goals after swapping with David.

Players that were the pick of the BH team were, Brandon, Tyler, Callum & Matthew at the back, but the whole team is playing great teamwork. Final score was 9 - 1 to the Beacon Hill Boys.

Player of the week was Tyler, who playing on the right side of the field showed great defence when playing at fullback & made some breaks & passes forward when he swapped with Callum on the right wing. All the boys deserve mention though!

Nolan's was a bit waterlogged; a big puddle in the middle of the field slowed play down at times. Jacob was goalie for the first half and only 1 goal got past him. Brendan had a great game, he was kept busy on the wing and made some good tackles. Great passing and play by Megan, Logan C and Nathan in the midfield and great defence by Tim and Tom kept the ball away from our goal most of the time. Jasper was goalie in the second half; he was challenged on many occasions; only 1 getting past him as well. Logan M made some great through passes to Jason, his fast runs to goal were in vain as the Harbord goalie seemed that he was always in the right spot.

U13 Division 3
David Thomas 2, Manly Vale
Beacon Hill A 4 v Manly Vale 0

Top of the table clash between the two undefeated teams of Beacon Hill & Manly Vale was being played today.

From the kick off both teams showed great determination & skill in testing out their opposition. The ball went from goal to goal, with Beacon Hill getting more momentum as the first half continued.

The forwards through Brandon, Adam, Christian & Callum were getting some quality ball from Adib, Beau & Cameron in the midfield. Sensational team work up front led to two goals to Brandon & a penalty goal from Stephen that saw Manly Vale build a wall only to find Stevie curl the ball around into the net. At the break score was 3 nil.

After half time the play still was all over the park & the Beacon Boys confidence was high. The Beacon backs had to dig deep at times as Manly Vale came out strong after the break. Good defence from Matthew, Stephen, Ben, Doug & Tyler at the back saw most raids diffused. Goalie David saw more ball this game & was solid protecting the net.

Beacons had many opportunities but just missed out with shots astray. Beau who was everywhere scored the fourth & final goal from long range when Beau put a neat high ball through & the Manly Vale goalie misjudged the bounce & the ball sailed over his head.

Players that were the pick of the BH team were, Brandon, Beau, Stephen & Tyler. Final score of 4 nil to the Beacon Hill Boys has left them as clear competition leaders. Need to keep up the work boys!

Player of the week was Brandon, who is in scintillating form at present & is taking control up front. He was very unlucky not to score more goals. Brandon's commitment & skills being shown are outstanding up front. His teammates are supporting by also supplying some quality ball.

Beacon Hill 0 v Wakehurst 1

U14 Division 2 - Sat 21st May 2011 - Beacon Hill 0 v Wakehurst 1

A dewy morning greeted the players as they arrived at County Road, as the sun climbed, it warmed up considerably. The Wakehurst side came out with a strong attack at goal just after the kick off; Jacob showed the crowd just how goalkeeping is done. A big run at goal by Travis almost paid off several minutes in; the slippery ball didn’t help things and his strike went slightly wide of the right goal post. Georgia made some excellent tackles; one in particular resulted in her coming off the field with a bruised ankle, only a temporary injury as she went back on later in the game. Jason, Harry, Alara and Rebecca made some great charges at goal, the extra vigilant Wakehurst defence held their line each time. Near the end of the first half, a Wakehurst through-kick found 2 obvious off-side players and to the dismay of all, they continued up the field to score a goal that the ref allowed.

After the break, Jacob stayed in goals; just as well as there were numerous corner kicks that needed saving and he stepped up each time. Jasper, Liam and Megan were defending well, and certainly helped keep the opposition scoreless in the 2nd half. Beacon Hill had 2 corners near the end of the match, the 1st corner kicked by Harry rebounded off a Wakehurst player and out to Tim who kicked it on the full, the ball skimmed just outside the right post. The 2nd corner was almost headed into goal by Beacon Hill; the ball just going over the goal.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 14th May 2011 - Beacon Hill 0 v St Augustine's 3

With a cold southerly blowing along the field, Beacon Hill won the toss and played downwind first up. Big kicks were the order of the day and it seemed pretty even at first; Beacon Hill had a few forays toward goal, but had to change to a defensive strategy to hold St Augustine’s out.

Tom and Tim were playing well, controlling the play from the rear. Jacob had a tough job ahead of him and made many spectacular saves as goalie in both halves. Georgia was on fire, her ability to win the ball off the Saints kept the crowd entertained.

A goal was scored against Beacon Hill late in the first half; the Saints somehow weaved through the tight defence. Just before half time, Logan M almost scored with a huge kick at goal, the St A's goalie jumping high to make an accurate save.

The wind picked up in the second half, not helping Beacon Hill one bit. St Augustine's scored an early goal and then kicked another 15 minutes later; the ball going from about halfway; high and very long with the wind assisting to scrape just above Jacob's fingers and into the goal.

Beacon Hill had a few concentrated attacks in reply, Travis, Harry and Jason all having a go, but luck and time were not on our side.

U13 Division 3
County Road, Frenchs Forest
Beacon Hill A 1 v Wakehurst 0

From the kick off the Beacon boys were on the attack & constantly pushed the ball forward. There were a number of opportunities, but their shots were astray. Even a penalty in front was planted over the crossbar. The Wakehurst team was making great inroads down the right side & constantly went this side with the Beacons unable to contain the attacking raids & only desperate defence at the back by Matthew saved the day. Finally Beacons scored after good lead up down the right side by Callum after a quick throw in by Tyler, Callums shot missed & Brandon was on the spot to capitalize & score. Score 1-0 at halftime.

After a good talking to at half time the Beacon play improved the second half with plenty of play down in the Wakehurst half, but the forwards & midfield were unable to score. One memorable play was by Cameron who took the play from inside his half & took the ball downfield to just miss scoring. There were plenty of opportunities & the team played well together, particularly in the second half with good games by Adib, Beau & Cameron in the midfield & Brandon, Callum & Adam up front.

Player of the week was the whole side, who in the second half really turned a pretty ordinary first half into an exciting game from a BH perspective. Special mention of Cameron as he again was an inspiration to his teammates with his never gives up attitude. Cameron covers more mileage than any other player every week to show the way.

U14 Division 2 - Sat 7th May 2011 - Beacon Hill 1 v Manly Vale 3

Most of the 1st half had the play concentrated in Manly Vale's territory. Great runs at goal were made by Brandon and Jason early on, each time the opposition stopped us from scoring. Jacob made several good saves as Manly Vale fought back.

The second half had Nathan in goals, he was up to the task and committed himself to some very brave saves under pressure. Logan M was playing well and was making accurate passes through to the forwards; one of which found Travis who made a big run all the way in and scored convincingly to finally break the nil-all deadlock.

With about 10 minutes to go, Manly Vale got a lucky break, scoring after a corner. Then only minutes later a Beacon Hill hand ball in the penalty box gave the opposition a penalty kick from the penalty mark to score again. Just moments before full time, a Manly Vale big kick went far and high, sailing just out of reach of Nathan's fingers to score their 3rd goal.

Saturday 9th April 2011
U10 Division 4
Millers 3, Manly Vale
Beacon Hill 1 v North Curl Curl 0

The 2nd game delivered a 2nd win and with it a truly fantastic start to a season.

The first half was a dogged affair and ended at 0-0 after some truly outstanding defensive work from Oscar and Ryan at the back who took on the motto of "Thou shalt not Pass!" Ryan won the encouragement award for his efforts.  The midfield picked up where they left off last game and attempted to pass the ball when the opportunity arose with Reece in particular having a good game.  While up front Cooper again ran all half attempting to find a route to goal.

The coach, Sam, gave an inspiring half time talk and the guys came out with a new determination.  Jeremy, after a stint in goal in the first half, didn't stop running or tackling.  Ronan also built up a mighty sweat as he attempted to cover every blade of grass on the park.  As the opposition tired the forwards started to find more space with Ferdi taking the chance to run at the opposition defence.  The goal, when it came was a little scrappy with the ball bouncing around before Nick, who played up front in the 2nd half, delivered a true poachers finish to slot the ball home.  But the standout performer was Chris who followed up his Encouragement Award last week with a Man of the Match performance this week.  Chris played his heart out and after only 2 games is already adding technical skills to his never give up approach!

A truly great team effort by all and all this without a training session!

U13 Division 3
Old Rheub Hudson, Curl Curl
Beacon Hill A 8 v St.Augustines 0

From the opening whistle the play was at Saints end with many attacking raids by Beacons. Unfortunately their finishing touches were very ordinary near the Saints goal & many, many opportunities went a miss. Beacons were walking & showed little confidence at times. There were only a few times the ball went down field towards the Beacon goal. Finally two goals came from Christian & Brandon. Cameron was really playing well in the midfield & with the backs playing up, they kept putting the ball forward & gave very little room at the back for the Saints team. Score 2 nil to Beacons at half time.

The boys were looking tired & lethargic at half time & needed a real pep talk from Coach Damian to rev them up. The talk worked & what a different team Beacons were in the second half. Both teams improved their play but the Beacon boys scored six more great goals & again could have scored many more. Second half goals to Brandon (2) to give him a trifecta for the day, Adam (2), Callum & Cameron 1 each. Should the boys play the season more like the second half today, it should be a good season with plenty of goals. The pick of the BH team was Matthew at the back that diffused any potential Saints raids, Cameron again in the midfield who is an inspiration to his teammates in attack & defence & Beau who also covered a lot of the field in the midfield & at the back in defence. At the final whistle the Beacon boys had won 8-0, though the score could have been easily been much larger.

Player of the week was the whole side, who in the second half really turned a pretty ordinary first half into an exciting game from a BH perspective. Special mention of Brandon with his two second half goals, one dribbling around the goalie & the other flicking the ball over the goalies head from close range were great to watch. It showed that Brandon was thinking more about how to score goals. Brandon's involvement up front was great to watch along with his other forward teammates.

Beacon Hill 2 v Avalon 4

U14 Division 2 - Sat 9th April 2011 - Beacon Hill 2 Avalon 4

The match started off with Jasper in goals and Avalon on the attack. The play was quite even at first, but Avalon's good passing paid off with 2 quick goals within the first 10 minutes of the match. Beacon Hill went into defensive mode and attempted to keep Avalon out, but more strong attacks saw 2 more goals scored by Avalon in the first half.

After the break, Jacob was in goals and was tested time and time again, his safe hands saving several certain goals. Then it was our turn; a big kick from Tom and Harry got the ball, he dribbled in from 20 metres out, kicked strongly at the goal and scored in the bottom right corner of the net! Avalon came back with a few near misses, but we managed to get the ball back in their territory, Travis passed up to Alara, she crossed with a high kick to Harry who headed it in for our second goal. We were on a roll, but time was not on our side and the final whistle blew several minutes later.

Beacon Hill 3 Manly Allambie 0

A win! What a great start to the season boys!!!

Despite the lack of training the team came out firing. Attacking plays in the first half saw goals by Nicholas and Cooper set up by some great passes by midfielders Oscar, Ronan, and Jeremy. The opposition was kept scoreless by some tenacious defending by Nathan, Christopher and Ryan as well as great goal keeping by Ferdi.

The second half saw better team work although we started to run out of puff. Reece scored in the second half following some great attacking play. Nathan showed great form in the goals with some diving saves and resulted in him getting Player of the Match and on his football debut showing huge potential, Christopher received the Manager's Encouragement Award showing great form in defence.

Saturday 2nd April 2011
U13 Division 3
Millers 2, Manly Vale
Beacon Hill A 3 v Manly Allambie 1

First game of the season was against Manly Allambie at Millers. The boys were very keen as their preparation was limited due to rained out trial games & minimal training. Two new players joined the team from last year these being Adib & Christian. From the whistle the Beacon Hill boys were on the attack with the forwards showing great passing resulting in Christian scoring within 30 seconds. This was to be a concern as the attitude possibly was to show an easy game ahead. Not the case as the play was all over the park; Beacons had many opportunities at goal but couldn't convert. Unfortunately a blunder in the Beacon goal area saw an own goal prior to half time. At the break score was 1 all.

After half time the play see sawed up & down the field. Beacons had more shots at goal, but they went astray, till late in the game when Christian headed a neat goal from a Stevie corner. Soon after Beacons converted a further opportunity at goal for Christian to claim his trifecta of goals in his first game. All the boys showed glimpses of good team work in between lacking fitness. All the boys tried hard & were legless at game's end. It should be a good year ahead as the skills are evident in the team. Players that were the pick of the BH team were Cameron, Adib, Doug, Brandon, Callum & Christian.

Player of the week was Christian, who was outstanding up front, his positional play was good & to score three goals was a great effort. Both Adib & Christian fitted into the team very well!

U14 Division 2 - Sat 2nd April 2011 - Beacon Hill 2 Pittwater RSL 3

The season opener saw Beacon Hill facing last year's Pittwater 13-1 team. This made for a very challenging match.

Both sides looked quite even in the 1st half and five minutes into the match, Thomas kicked toward goal from 20 metres out, a defensive header from a Pittwater player backfired and the ball sailed over their goalie's head for our first goal.

Georgia was kept busy in the south east corner of the field; the Pittwater forwards were relentless in the attacks. Jacob was put to the test over and over again, making great saves time after time. Pittwater's fast attacks finally paid off with a ball getting high and out of reach of even Jacob's hands.

A Beacon Hill corner kick found Harry in the right place at the right time; his hard kick at goal slammed into the back of the net, putting us in front again. Pittwater answered back with another goal only a few minutes later.

After half time, the play was concentrated around our goal, the wind not helping the situation. Some more great work by Jacob saving 2 certain goals, then one lucky kick managed to get past him during one of the light showers.

Great passing by the Beacon Hill midfield and forwards got the ball up the field and upwind on several occasions; the strikes at goal were saved each time by the Pittwater goalie.

Tim had a go at goalkeeping for the last quarter; he got a fair bit of action and was challenged a few times and made some great saves. Late in the match, a Pittwater penalty kick in the goal square was fired straight at goal, went a bit high and bounced off the cross bar making everyone breathe a sigh of relief.

A very entertaining match for the spectators and the team is looking forward to next Saturday's match.
