BHFC – LADIES SUCCESS

What a year for the Beacon Hill Football Club's Women's Teams. The 35/2's winning both the Major Premiership and Grand Final in penalty shoot out, Beacon Hill joining the Premier League competition, the Premier League Reserves going all the way to win their Grand Final in a penalty shoot out and our registrations in women's football continue to increase with the newly formed 35/3's "mums" team joining our club this season. Congratulations to all on a fantastic 2010 season.

Photo: Major Premiers, Beacon Hill 16/3 vs the runners up Forest-Killarney
We had a good start to the 1st half holding out several Forest attacks in the first 15 minutes.

As the game started to settle down we were able play our own game, we went to the half time break at nil all.

The second half was just as exciting as the 1st as the more possession we had the better the team started playing.

This was probably the best half we had played all season at the right time on the right day. Our goal came 15 minutes from time after some excellent plays had Forest on the back foot.

Final score a 1-0 win to Beacon Hill.

Photo: Major Premiers, Beacon Hill 16/3 vs the runners up Forest-Killarney

This season has been a sensational team effort by the WU16-3's and we have achieved so much this year by becoming Major and Minor champions. I am proud to be part of this team as a coach as these girls have shown strength, determination and a team bond this year that has allowed them to succeed.

Congratulations girls.

- Coach, Barry Warriner

Beacon Hill Ladies O/35 Div 2 Grand Final vs Wakehurst A.
4-3 win on penalties

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies O/35 Div 2 Grand Final vs Wakehurst After winning the Major Premiership we were thrilled to also qualify for the Grand Final against Wakehurst A, who we were yet to beat this season.

We knew we would need to fight hard. So at full time the score was locked at 0- 0 and the same after 20 minutes of extra time.

We knew what we had to do and after eight players from each team taking penalty shoots we were victorious 4-3 in the end.

Congratulations to Mary, Noeline and Tracey C who were successful as our 1st, 3rd and 5th penalty takers respectively.

Photo: Ladies O/35 Div 2 Grand Final vs Wakehurst

The final word goes to our wonderful Goalie Lisa Peterson who slotted home the winner straight after saving two consecutive Wakehurst attempts.

What an epic day that will remain in our memories forever. 16 local ladies aged between 36 and 53 who have had an absolutely fabulous season of laughter, friendship and soccer.

Thank you to our awesome coach, Chris Cassettari, manager Russell Cragg, our family, friends and the committee members who came to offer support.

Thank you also to Julie and John Wright who hosted the after party. Congratulations to Linda who was voted 'most improved', Noeline who was voted 'best team player' and our wonderful sweeper Danielle who was voted 'players player' by their team mates.

Back to Division 1 we go next season!

Beacon Hill Ladies 16 Div 1

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies 16 Div 1
The Ladies U16 Div 1 Team of 2010 are a fantastic group of players.

We started the year with a couple of trial matches that showed the strength and possibilities of these players and went open eyed for the season to get under way. We have had some great wins, some hard fought draws and some memorable losses.

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies 16 Div 1

The Ladies have played their way into a semi- finals berth through sheer determination and a willingness to get the job done, being in the top four of the first division is a testament to their hard work and enthusiasm all the while defining their place and structure within the team.

This team encompasses the ideal of never giving up and they have earned the respect of many of their opponents for their fair play and an attitude that it is not over till the final whistle blows.

It has been a pleasure to be involved with this group of girls as they have developed from a group of new players to a team that enjoys the game and continually strives to do their best.

- Coach, Tim Carlton

Beacon Hill U9 Trojans

Photo: Beacon Hill U9 Trojans The U9 Trojans are a team that owe a lot to their name, brave and strong in battle fighting against the odds but ultimately succumbing to the tactics and numbers of the opposition.

While still looking for that second victory, 2010 has been a great development year for the Trojans with each week seeing the unique and sometimes quirky approach increasingly supported by growing skills and experience.

Photo: Beacon Hill U9 Trojans

All the Trojans have at times shined and we have unearthed some real potential for Beacon Hill over the coming years. As the season draws to a close I am sure all our team have some new and worthy tales of battle and glory and that they are already planning the next seasons feats.

Beacon Hill U6 Jackals

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Jackals

Our team, the Jackals, consists of:
• Oliver (Here I come!) Benson Sparkes
• William (Let me at it!) Carroll
• Hamish (Take that!) Finlayson
• Amelia (Groover) Giannitto
• Samuel (laid back) Heinz
• Matthew (You can't catch me!) Lee
• James (I'm going to stop their goal) Matheson
• Aiden (quick step) Proft
• Jaiden (lovable) Reid
• Ashleigh (fancy footwork) Simpson
• Nathan (solid as a rock) Smith
• Isabella (take that fella's) Thompson
• Harvey (the hustler) Whitehand.

What a fun lot they all are – keeping me on my toes at every training but come game day they do mean business, even if it is just to get the treats at the end!

All of the team had never played before and so it was slow going at the beginning of the season. But WOW - as the soccer season progressed and with lots of practise and enthusiasm (most of the time) by the players, the improvement has been dramatic. The team's confidence has increased and the parents are loudly applauding and encouraging all team members.

There have certainly been some tough and physical encounters along the way but all have bounced back with bodies and confidence intact. They have given me a great deal of enjoyment watching them laugh and have fun. They all bring their own brand of spirit to the team.

The most heartening part of the season for the Jackals is surely the improvement that the team displayed throughout the season from Game 1. Our ethos is around everyone getting a fair go, everyone enjoying equal game time & everyone having fun, whilst learning the basics of the game – hopefully we have achieved this and planted the seed for the continual enjoyment of physical activity and team sport for many years to come.

- Lisa Thompson

Beacon Hill U12 Division 3

Photo: Beacon Hill U12 Division 3
The U12/3 team is made up of players from different teams in the past years at Beacon Hill.

The boys have really jelled exceptionally well together & are producing some brilliant team work.

Photo: Beacon Hill U12 Division 3

The team is having a great year scoring lots of wins & producing some stunning goals. The skills of the players have really developed during the season with coach Damian able to get the very best from each & every player.

The players & the support of the parents have been absolutely fantastic & U12/3 is the best team to be associated with at Beacon Hill. The Beacon players are looking to continue their great form with more wins & goals on their march towards the finals.

Players in the team are: David Adams, Cameron Brown, Dougie Chalmers, Callum Denmead, Ben Howarth, Tyler Jarvis, Brandon Koolloos, Ethan Markie, Stephen Melani, Jamie Postle, Beau Shaw, Matthew Sussanna & Adam Warriner.

Beacon Hill U8 Foxes

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Foxes Five of the U/8 Foxes have been playing together since they were U/6.

This year they welcomed three new players - William, Alicia and Carwyn.

As it is heading to the end of the season, the team has begun to play in positions.

They are learning to pass the ball more and to back up their team mates.

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Foxes

Regardless of whether they win or lose the game, all eight players always enjoy the game. They are listening better to Vern Mitchell, their coach and trying to improve every time they play.

Although sometimes they still swarm around the ball like bees - they are all greatly improved in 2010 and have actually won a few games this year.

Beacon Hill Over 35s 5A

Photo: Beacon Hill Over 35s 5A

The 5A's like most of BHFC 35's like a good mixture of competition plus enjoyment. Once the contest is over we don't over analyse it, we have a beer or a soft drink and poke a bit of fun at each other. The cores of the 5A’s are into their third season together. This year has been our best thus far, mainly due to the ability to score goals.

Photo: Beacon Hill Over 35s 5A
Team Members
Back Row Left to Right - Task, Jock, Bufon, Sammy, Richo, Smudge, Wok, Davey, JT, Hydie
Front Row Left to Right - Mully, Schooner, Joey, Nath, Barky.
(Absent - Big M, Nic, Laurie & Koops).

The Team photo above highlights our retention of the Red Beacon Cup last Saturday. It's an idea we came up with last year to raise some money for the Salvation Army, plus form a closer relationship with the Avalon FC Over 35's.

Last Saturday was the closest contest thus far with a 2-2 draw. Beacon Hill came from a goal down on two occasions to retain the Cup. Good even contest that was played in good spirit.

We are currently one point out of the top four at present. Hopefully we can step up over the next month and extend our season by a couple of weeks. Regardless we won't look too far ahead, rather focus on the challenge and enjoyment of each week!!

Beacon Hill U9s in World Cup at Cromer Park

Photo: Beacon Hill U9s in World Cup at Cromer Park On Sunday 4th July, Beacon Hill U9's entered three teams in the World Cup – Japan (the Hurricanes), New Zealand (the Storm) and Mexico (the Tornadoes) – at Cromer Park.

The U9 World Cup was a fantastic concept, it was extremely well organised and everyone had a fantastic day!!

Photo: Beacon Hill U9s in World Cup at Cromer Park

Mexico (the Tornadoes) started the day with a great win over Italy in their group of four, before losing their other two games to come third.

Japan (the Hurricanes) played in the 'Plate' semi final against Australia (Curl Curl) after coming in second in their group. Japan were two goals down and came back to level scores in second half. They were unlucky to lose 3-2 to a late goal. Japan (the Hurricane) put up a valiant effort and it was great game to watch!!

New Zealand (the Storm) also had some fantastic games, being unlucky to make any semi-finals.

MEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE UPDATE

Photo: Beacon Hill Premier League Men

As the season draws to a close with only 5 games remaining it shows a season of contrast. The First team are sitting in 3 rd spot only 3 points of the top and very much in contention for the title. The Reserve grade are sitting 2nd bottom and in spite of playing good football each week cannot get the wins they mostly deserve.

We thought at the season start that we had two teams capable of the top four, this was allowing for a lot of new players coming into the squad and in fact rebuilding the Reserves with young players . With suspensions and injuries, along with overseas trips has left the squad short of numbers on numerous occasions.

Both sides play an open style of football in a direct fashion which reflects in some exciting games.

We have a fantastic support base from within the club and appreciate the regular supporters who show up each week.

The boys are playing at Seaforth this weekend and our next home game is on 24th of July, so come down and show your support to the team and the great coaching staff - David Wilson, Mark Gale and Phil Edney, I'm sure you will enjoy the games.

BEACON HILL U6 HAWKS

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Hawks
In their inaugural year, the Beacon Hill Under 6 Hawks are showing great promise.

Coach Simon says he couldn't be prouder of these first-timers, who have picked up the ball skills, teamwork, enthusiasm and good sportsmanship to stand them in good stead for their future in the sport.

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Hawks

Although they are often a year younger than their competitors, the Hawks are really starting to give the other teams more even matches and are constantly impressing their supporters with their enthusiasm, tenacity and love of the game.

Leading goal scorer Liam Pooley is unstoppable when he sets his sights on the goals and Daniel Osbourne also has a great strike record and good aim with his boot. Natural defenders Alexander Cable, Finn Walsh and Jamie Wall have stopped many goals this season and have also each made some significant ones of their own for the Hawks! Liam Kemp shows amazing enthusiasm, as does Emily Harrison, the only female on the team who holds her own among the boys. Ben Gorman, Christian Graffeo and Alex Newson can always be found in the thick of the action and are not afraid to give the ball a good boot, while Nathan McManus is without a doubt the most dedicated trainer and promising player.

Let's hope there are many more seasons from the Hawks to come.

BEACON HILL U8 PUMAS

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Pumas
In our fourth year together the Pumas are developing into a confident and well-skilled team, winning more games than ever before.

Coach Bruce Harrison, who has remained in the top job for all of those four years, says that he could not be prouder of his team and is especially pleased with their sportsmanship and composure when facing trying conditions on the field.

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Pumas

The Pumas' players have found their own natural positions and have started to develop this further. Tom Dunne has become a standout goalkeeper with his drop balls setting up the team play. Fellow defenders Will Harrison and Rowan Dryden are always a formidable line of defence.

Our midfielders and two newcomers to the Pumas this year, Jamie Hemsworth and Finn Duckworth, have provided both fresh legs and enthusiasm to inspire our team to new heights. Jayden Vescio has continued to improve each week and has become a valued team member. Charlie Walsh is our all-rounder and extends his skills to both attacking and defence and excels in both. He also has one of our biggest kicks!

Our strikers and prolific goal scorers Jordan Wall, Lachlan Gorman and Noah Holicky continue to amaze us on the sidelines with their ability to move the ball around the field and find the back of the net.

Let's hope there are many more seasons from the Pumas to come.

BEACON HILL UNDER 11/2

Photo: Beacon Hill Under 11/2 The Under 11/2's was born out of several teams of very enthusiastic boys that have played for many years at Beacon Hill.

Some of the boys have played together before but it was still a brand new team.

Photo: Beacon Hill Under 11/2

Thankfully we have two fantastic coaches, Matt Chambers and Chris Tyrrell who bring years of experience and expertise to the team. Each week the boys are put through a strong fitness regime at training as well as important skills training.

The boys have been really focused and work outstandingly as a team. They have great respect for each other and are always prepared to give 100%.

Matt and Chris have given them the opportunity to have a go in different positions which has often resulted in them finding themselves in a position they excel in and may not have realised!

In turn we now have a strong tenacious team. Each week we see individual moments of greatness as well as great improvement as a team. It's been a great season so far with the boys sitting just outside the top four!

BEACON HILL OVER 35 DIVISION 2

Photo: Beacon Hill Over 35 Division 2
This Over 35 team entered the over Men's over 35 league competition some 4 years ago, and have been very competitive and each year since have demanded a top 4 spot.

The bulk of players have been playing under the guidance of Hubert Donders in the Amateur league Division 1 for some seven years prior to moving to Men's over 35.

Photo: Beacon Hill Over 35 Division 2

The decision was made to give the old legs a bit of rest and continue on at an easier pace. Our first stop was the over Men's over 35 Division 1, and we kept the Beacon Hill flag flying high to make it to the semi Finals where we got knocked out by a very strong Brookvale team, which consisted of several retired premier league players. Last year we won the Grand final in Div 2 beating archrival Mosman.

And this year the team holds down second spot in the Division 2, and are well on course for the semi final play offs. Hubert as team leader has been trying hard to keep this international flavoured team calm and collective; amongst us we have recruitments from Austria, Germany, Netherlands, England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, and not to forget Phil with his French background.

The team is proudly sponsored by Hermann Buchberger, Hermann's line of business... "Active Crane Hire", amongst others.

Our end of season parties are generally big drink ups which the usual presentations of trophies. The one trophy most feared is the Golden knob award; it's for the player who is guilty of something really stupid either on or off the field!

BEACON HILL WAL 2

Photo: Beacon Hill WAL 2
The girls in the team have shown a spark and courage to hold a couple of teams to a draw and fighting to the last whistle in all games.

We knew it was going to be a tough season but every player has put in at every game and it's a great pleasure to watch the girls improve every week.

The team is looking forward to a first win of the season, but 2010 has been a great year of football friendships.

BEACON HILL WOMEN'S U13 DIVISION 2

Photo: Beacon Hill Women's U13 Division 2

The year started with a group of 12 girls from different levels, schools and even different schools years, but from day one they jelled into a wonderful team.

• Our 'half time' goalie lleah (CM) with her safe hands keeps our 'against' well down.
• Emily our sweeper with her 'orange' boot directs our backline and clears any ball.
• Caitlyn (stopper) shuts down any would-be striker playing deep into opposition territory.
• Alana (B,W) has the longest throw-ins in the comp.
• Megan D (B,W) can stop and turn a ball on a pinhead.
• Jas (B,W) her amazing footwork baffles the opposition.
• Jaime (B) has a superb boot that keeps the backline clear.
• Monica (B) is fantastic at defending the goals on corners.
• Penny (CM) is our 'ever-ready battery' still doing handstands after the game.
• Rylee (CM) can dribble around backlines as if they weren't there.
• Nina (W) can run faster with the ball than our eyes can follow.
• Erica (W,S) such a versatile player, strong on attack and defence.
• Sidonie (S) so fast, sets up so many goals.
• Megan R (FS) can take off like a 'pocket rocket' and take the ball all the way to score.
• Georgia (S) our highest goal scorer, who can cross a ball from the sideline.

A team this hot needs a team of coaches and we have the best. The Superb Sarah, Skilful Scott and Magnificent Matthew, guide and lead the girls with selfless dedication and unbelievable abilities. Positive feedback and knowledge of the game mean the girls walk off the field smiling win, draw or lose. We thank you so very much.

BEACON HILL W10 ALLSTARS

Photo: Beacon Hill W10 AllStars The AllStars team has been created from friends from St. Johns at Narraweena.

It is the first season for Sascha, Bella, Michaela and Madeline while for the remainder it is their second season of soccer. The year has been lots of fun for the girls and they have been learning many skills enthusiastically from Coaches Sam and Lachlan.

Photo: Beacon Hill W10 AllStars

It has sometimes been challenging as the girls have been playing lots of teams who are up to two years older (and a metre taller!) but even when the AllStars are behind on the scoreboard they never stop trying till the final whistle.

The AllStars supporters have been treated to some fantastic goals from Marina, Chiara and Isabella. While the efforts of Neve, Kyla, Bronte, Annika and Grace in both attack and defense has been fantastic!

The supporters are very proud of the Beacon Hill Allstars and even though we have not had wins on the scoreboard, we have had many wins with effort, teamwork and enthusiasm. GO ALLSTARS!

BEACON HILL U/16 DIV 2

Photo: Beacon Hill U/16 Div 2 The season started with the majority of last year's U/15's being graded together with 4 players from the U/16 Div 1 to form a Div 2 side.

The side was lucky enough to have 2 of this year's Premier League side, Roscoe and Archie put their hands up to coach the side and it was soon very apparent that these boys really knew what they were doing.

Photo: Beacon Hill U/16 Div 2

We soon realised that we would have a competitive side with the semi finals a realistic goal. Early in the season we struggled to put a full team on the park because of injuries, today was the first time all season that we have been to field a full strength side.

Parents are amazed at how much the side has improved through the season and at the near halfway mark of the second round we sit on top of the table, the only side still undefeated. We had 2 draws early in the season both games we were a man down, team coming from behind to snatch a draw showing a never say die attitude in both games.

The coaches have done a fantastic job with their experience, commitment and passion and it would be great if more of the clubs top players would coach junior sides. The boy's love playing for them, and you can see all the hard work is paying off.

While the season is still far from finished, new goals have been set with the team hoping to go all the way, whether they do or not time will tell, one thing I can say is that every boy will be a better player at season's end.

BEACON HILL U7 TIGERS

Photo: Beacon Hill U7 Tigers The Tigers have been ferocious this season. Most of our players have returned from the U6s and with a few new tiger cubs and a new coach we've been on fire.

All team members have been working hard at training to learn new skills and strengthen their kicking legs.

Lots of mini-games at training have also helped players to understand what they have to do on the field. Each week they then try so hard to put these new skills into practice at the game.

Photo: Beacon Hill U7 Tigers

The spectators go wild when there is much dribbling around the opposition, passing when tackled, great kicks up field, unbelievable defense and many goals scored. No matter what the combination on each field, the players work together to ensure that everyone has a great game.

The Tigers are formidable opponents and they have yet to come up against a team that can match them on the field. Go the TIGERS!!!!

BEACON HILL U9 HURRICANES

The Lively U9 Hurricanes
Introducing the lively and spirited U9 Hurricanes! This newly formed team has started the season with a whirlwind of superb wins, hard fought draws and its fair share of losses against fierce opposition in the division 1 comp.

Photo: Beacon Hill U9 Hurricanes

Coach Steve Paterson has his hands full teaching and instilling the important skills of field position, marking up, passing and kicking. Many a brilliant goal has been set up and scored with the boys sticking to their position, passing and moving up and down the field in Coach Steve's special 'boat formation', it really works!

All boys are capable of scoring goals with Darcy, Jimmy, Blake, Daniel, Wesley and Jake eagerly finding the back of the net. James, Jarrod, Joshua, Dean and Harry work tirelessly on the field in defence and in the midfield. Each week the players arrive at training and the game as keen as mustard.

Thanks to Coach Steve for his dedication and patience, Matthew Killorn and Kevin Flew for brilliant refereeing and all U9 Hurricane supporters for your wonderful encouragement and cheering.

Remember the 'boat' boys!!

Beacon Hill U6 Jaguars

Sat 12th June at Wyatt Avenue

A brisk morning greeted the enthusiastic footballers. The Jaguars kept the ball in their half for the first 5 minutes before the Chargers raced up the field narrowly missing a goal.

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Jaguars

The mighty Jaguars turned it around again and scored first followed almost immediately by a goal from the Chargers. From then on the game was evenly matched with both teams getting goal for goal.

In the second half the Jaguars scored another spectacular goal and made many other goal attempts which only narrowly missed the net. They also saved many goals from the opposition. There were many cheers as the Jaguars held on to win the match.

Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship, shaking hands and cheering for each other before getting a group photo at the end.

BEACON HILL PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM

The 2010 season saw 30 players signed for the squad, with 6 young players coming from other teams within the club. A few new faces were added as this is a rebuilding year.

The preseason started well with the Reserves winning well and destroying all of their opponents. Once the season started we found that inconsistency was our main problem, however, we know that we can produce a string of victories that will push us towards the top 4.

First grade are playing well and are very consistent, All in all we have started well and our pre season goals are well within our reach for both teams.

Beacon Hill O35 Division 5 – 5B's

Photo: Beacon Hill O35 Division 5 – 5B's It's Fun to Win with the 56ers

Six years ago Beacon Hill entered a team in the O35 division and won the league.
Two years later we had such an influx of players that we had to split into two smaller teams, and the 56ers was born.

Photo: Beacon Hill O35 Division 5 – 5B's

The origin of the name was because we were first in Div 5 then in Div 6, not because the average age is 56 (although close). Even though we lost or drew every game that season, upon looking back we can say that the winner that year was football. We had a lot of laughs, played hard, and bonded.

Relegated to the 6th Division the following year, our hard work in post-game analysis over several beverages started to pay off. We started winning games. The next year (2008) saw the team win both the Minor and Major premierships and, perhaps more importantly, what can only be described as 'reflective naming' took hold.

Names like Preacher, Hollywood, Tin Man, G Man, Legend, Echo, Grenades, Phantom, Eveready, Dozer, Terminator, Samauri (sic) and Stiffy were born and perpetuated. That they reflect the personality – or opposite – of each Player is indicative of how the 56ers view each other and the game: Fun and competitive, winning off the field as much as on the field. Names that are close to being allocated – we await ratification from FIFA – are Clint alias NKOTB (New Kid On The Block), Punky, Pirate, Tanti (short for tantrum), 2-D, Fups, and Bud2.

A remarkable fact is that about half the team never played football until they joined the 56ers. To keep things on an even keel, points are given for the three biggest stuff-ups each game. The winner gets the Pig award. Oh, and points are also given each game for MVP and two others. This satisfies our intensely competitive nature.

In the final analysis, when a bunch of old farts fronts up for a game of footy on a Saturday afternoon, plays hard as a team in a tough comp, never takes themselves too seriously as witnessed by the sledging of our own team mates, has a lot of laughs, then we've won. Every week. Hey that sounds like most Beacon Hill teams (except maybe the old farts part).

Beacon Hill U8 Bobcats

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Bobcats Bobcats have won 4 out of 5 games, this is an extremely good result, considering that last season we only won 3 games in total.

Coach Brian is obviously doing a good job in training our team, and all the players have shown vast improvement since last season:

Photo: Beacon Hill U8 Bobcats

Charley: Has become much more involved in each game!
Daniel: Is a super defender and goalie!
Jackson: Is very fast and scored a stunning goal!
Liam: Can run circles around the moving ball with speed and agility!
Matthew: Is our top goal scorer, excellent goalie and an all-rounder in the team!
Nick: Runs fast and is seriously devoted to the team,
Sophie: Our only beautiful girl, fearless and will take on any of the opposition plus she scored our very first goal this season!
Tim: Our mid-fielder and a great tackler!
Zac: Is the most enthusiastic player and a great team player!

All-in-all, the Bobcats are a formidable team and it is a pleasure to watch their games. Go THE CATS!!

Beacon Hill Ladies Under 14

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies Under 14 The under 14 girls started the season with just 11 keen girls and have put the call out and now have a team of 14.

It is a team of girls from many different schools who have all come with a friend to play soccer. They are a wonderful mix of girls who are coming together more and more each week.

Everyone is getting on well and having fun, it is nice to meet and team up with new people.

Beacon Hill U18/1 State Cup Win

Photo: Beacon Hill U18/1 The Beacon Hill 18/1's recorded their first State Cup victory last Sunday with a well constructed win over Chipping Norton from the Southern Districts Football Association.

Beacon looked the goods from the opening whistle and took the game to their opponents with some powerful midfield play which saw the boys in blue spend most of the game in their opponents half.

Photo: Beacon Hill U18/1

Several missed chances in front of goals saw the boys go to half time at 0 – 0, but the scorer had some work to do 20 minutes into the second half when a slick move by midfielders Gene Varano and Andrew Halligan saw Halligan chip the keeper for striker Brad Fox to help the ball into the net.

Beacon's second goal came soon after from a wide cross by midfielder Johnny Walker to Fox who beat Chipping Norton's right back and then the keeper to seal the game.

Next Round is scheduled for 6th June.

Beacon Hill U/7 Rockets

Photo: Beacon Hill U/7 Rockets What a fantastic start to the season the boy's are doing really well.

We have managed to keep a lot of our players from last year Bradley, Noah, Jamie S, Hayden, Harlan and Massimo, but have been very excited to welcome 5 new players Peter, Jamie A, Inan, Daniel, Charlie and their families to our team. We held a welcome sausage sizzle at the beginning of the season following training which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Photo: Beacon Hill U/7 Rockets

The boys have managed to win/draw almost all of their games so far this year. They have been working well as a team learning to pass the ball amongst team members.

We are lucky again this year to have Casey help coach the boy's and look forward to an exciting and fun soccer season for 2010.

Beacon Hill U16/3

Photo: Beacon Hill U16/3 The season started off on Easter Saturday with the boys under the hammer with only 9 players available, the instructions from coach were simple, go out do your best and have fun.

But as we all know in football things don't always go the way we plan, when suddenly things went from bad to worse with Russell's son Jackson breaking his leg in the 20th minute.
Photo: Beacon Hill U16/3

Game continued, in the end with only eight on the field the boys were defeated but by no means were they disgraced.

The Coach had seen enough spirit, commitment & skill to know that when a full team was available the Beacon Hill U16/3 team would be a force to be reckoned with, he told the boys on that day, that if they show the same determination & commitment that they could go all the way & win the competition, since then they haven't lost a game winning five out of the last five games to be currently leading the competition by 3 points.

Report by: Russell Dwyer (Coach)

Beacon Hill U6 Jaguars

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Jaguars The Jaguars have improved significantly since the start of the season and continue to demonstrate great defence and attack.

The boys push themselves to the limit as they play with immense passion and well and truly earn their break at half time.

There is great comradeship within the team as they are all classmates and friends on the field.

Beacon Hill U6 Sharks

Photo: Beacon Hill U6 Sharks What a difference training makes! Both teams are playing extremely well. The Sharks are slowly coming together to play as a team.

The number of goals they score show's how much better their ball skills are getting and they are having lots of fun every week.

Well Done Sharks!

A big thank you to Vince our super Coach for his encouragement and fantastic training sessions, where else would we be on a Friday night! Thank you also to both Fab & Eric our Assistant Coaches who help out with the warm ups and have stepped in to coach when needed.

A great time was had by all (players, husbands and kids) at the Mother's Day match on Sunday. The mums had a great game and were afterwards given the opportunity to put their feet up for a chat, some post match festivities and presents - the team received bags from the new sponsor DEE WHY GLASS and jackets from Rocsolid Building -  perfect Mother's Day!

Beacon Hill O35/3B Lola's

Photo: Beacon Hill O35/3B Lola's Introducing the 35-3B- Beacon Hill Lola's (Lots Of Laughts At Soccer)

If you cant beat them join them, so decided a group of Beacon Hill mums who had for years watched as their sons, daughters and husbands had run around the football fields across the peninsula.

Photo: Beacon Hill O35/3B Lola's

Having started out in the inaugural 'First timers' Six a side comp their decision to go to the real thing was inspired by their unlikely success in winning that comp. Judging by the empty bottles lying around at the end of the Grand Final it may have been a champagne influenced decision!

Despite warnings from their other halves about the big pitches and the fact that games are 90 minutes, the Lola's team was born.

Fiona Brewster, the team Manager, used all sorts of bribery and possibly blackmail to recruit some willing and some less willing players, with the promise of fun and fitness (and more champagne)!

Aaron who had been the teams super coach in the Six a Side comp agreed to take on the task again and over the pre season put the girls through their paces. A couple of trial matches helped reality dawn for those who perhaps had not realised what they were letting themselves in for but there was some real promise being shown by the girls.

This led to the Lola's winning their first match of the season, a nail biting 1-0 win over Seaforth and although wins have been hard to come by since, they have been improving every week as they work out the finer points of the game.

Most importantly though they are having great fun, look no further than the post match drinks, cheese and biscuits for evidence and conversations about how someone nearly scored and 'if only', and that is something all their husbands can relate too!

- Scott Brewster

Beacon Hill Ladies 35 Div 2

Photo: Beacon Hill Ladies 35 Div 2 The ladies 35 Div 2 is made up of 16 very committed players.

Nine of the players first played together in 2003 thanks to Noeline Cassettari who formed the first ever Ladies O/35 team for Beacon Hill and whose husband, Chris has coached them 7 of the last 8 seasons.

Relegated to division 2 this season after seven seasons in Division 1 the team is fighting hard to be promoted back to division 1 next year. They are stronger than ever and are scoring lots of goals (24 in five games) mostly thanks to Jodie, who has played futsal with some of the team over summer for a few years and is finally old enough to play O/35's and Kerry who has backed up for a 2nd season with Beacon Hill after many years with Forest Killarney.

The team are also delighted to welcome back Lisa Harris, who took a year off after baby number two and strong defender Di Aylward who had a break for a few seasons. They are also blessed with a formidable midfield in Noeline, Tracey C, Tracey D and Maz (who gives 100% even after a bike ride to Akuna Bay pre game most Sundays).

A big wrap also to super goalie Lisa Peterson, who used to play up front until knee surgery limited her running ability and ever dependable sweeper Danielle and determined defenders Jan, Julie, Debra and Rosemary.

To complete the 'dream team' is versatile ex Forest Killarney player Mary who made the switch to Beacon Hill with Kerry two years ago and triathlete Linda who recently scored her first ever goal for the team.

The team were cheered on by their partners and offspring in their 5-1 Mothers Day victory against Wakehurst B and enjoyed champagne and nibblies in the gorgeous Autumn sun post game.

The core of the Beacon Hill U10/2 team has been together since under 6s and has been building a strong and cohesive force over the years.

We lost a couple of good players this year but gained a couple of great players from lower divisions and from other codes and clubs. We are also extremely lucky to have a premier league player as coach – Rick Saunders.

He rapidly built a rapport with the boys and the positive and enthusiastic influence and guidance they are gaining from him is fantastic and evident week to week.

The season started out with an extremely exciting and close game ending in a draw, with last week being our first win. The boys are consolidating as a team as time goes on and great teamwork and strong defensive skills will enable them to do well for the rest of the season.

Our U/12 ladies are settling in together and improving each week. We have had one win and two other very tight games.

We have a few new players this year and everyone is giving 100% on the field which makes all of us very proud.

Well done girls!

The Beacon Hill Titans showed courageous defence, great attack and a flair for teamwork in their game against the Mosman Cheetahs.

The Titans went into the half-time break with a 2-1 lead. The second half was a nail biter with the scores being levelled.

The Titans were able to score another goal in the closing minutes to make the score 3-2 at the final whistle.

The LA 13/1's are off to a sensational start to the season being undefeatable until now.

With the assistance of a great Coach and the support and encouragement of the parents we hope to come home this year again winning the Grand Final.

GO GIRLS!!!!!

Beacon Hill 15 Boys Division 3

Photo: Beacon Hill 15 Boys Division 3
This team is building a strong bond and growing with time.

A win last week against one of the best teams in our competition lifted the spirits of all players.

This week another good win. We created lots of good chances and could have reached double figures in the second half. Goals by James Stepien, Dennis and James Cirera set up by Josh in the first half got us off to a well-deserved lead. (H/T score 3:0)

Photo: Beacon Hill 15 Boys Division 3

A super goal by Bethany in the first minute of the second half gave us hope of a really big score. But we were a bit unlucky with some of the opportunities we were given. Good teamwork and solid defending resulted in a satisfying performance.

The team is doing all the right things, passing, talking, defending and scoring goals.

I wish them good luck for the rest of the season.

- Marc Tromp (Manager) and Paul Ban (Coach)

The Brumbies have started the season with some great games...
Beacon Hill Brumbies vs Manly Alambie Tigers 10:1
and a draw 3:3 at Beverley Job Park.

Contests have been fierce and the defence excellent and a great improvement was seen all round. All played their hearts out with some great passes between the players.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Go U7 Brumbies!!

The Under 10 Division 4 team started off the season with a close game against Wakehurst and this week found tough opponents in Harbord Seasiders.

With the team training hard and working well together on the field a win should not be too far away.

Welcome to new players to the club Jacob and Anthony and new comers to the game Ben L and Whitnie our only girl member.

Saturday's game against Pittwater was a tough close battle. The team played extremely well together with passion and enjoyment of the game.

It was great to see a new team coming together so well so early in the season.

U14 Div 1 Team 2010

Photo: Beacon Hill U14 Div 1 Team Photo: Beacon Hill U14 Div 1 Team

Fresh from winning the U13 Division 2 Competition last year, the team was already focusing on life in Division 1 in 2010!

This 14/1 Team is made up of the majority of last year's side with a few new inclusions, coming in the form of the Wickham twins, (Ben and Matt) from the Strikers Club and Charlie Atkins returning after a one year absence.

2010 will be very interesting for the boys, playing in a higher division, with the speed and skill of the game improving vastly. But the boys, along with Super Coach 'Ross Talarico', will take the step up as a challenge, and be sure, they will not let the Beacon Club down!

Beacon Hill U6 Sharks

The Beacon Hill U6 Sharks came to their first game with great enthusiasm. They all tried yard, with some big kicks & strong tackles being displayed.

On this occasion the "Encouragement Award" went to Ben Gojak & "Player of the Round" went to Sam McMeekin.

Beacon Hill U8 Bullants

The U8 Bullants started the season off well at Beverly Job on the weekend with a 5 – 0 thrashing against BTH Eagles.

Man of the Match player Ben got 2 outstanding goals. Special mention to Conor for his outstanding saves in goals. Excellent team work Bullants...

'OUR TEAM'

Photo: Beacon Hill U18s following their victory over BTH
With only 3 of last season’s 18's Division 1 squad available to play this season, it was touch and go in the pre season build up as to whether Beacon would be able to field a side in what many people call the toughest football scenario for junior players.

Well history tells us that Beacon do have a side entered in Division 1 this season and this has largely resulted from the networking skills and determination from a few of the key players.

Photo: Beacon Hill U18s following their victory over BTH

The squad comprises players from Seaforth, Manly Vale, CC Strikers, Harbord United and Beacon's 16/1 squad plus players from Beacon's 18/2 and 18/3 squads from last season.

Responsibility for moulding this group into a team rests with Coach Jones.

LADIES PREMIER LEAGUE ROUND 1

Photo: Ladies Premier League Round 1 - Beacon Hill v Brookvale
This was going to be a good test for us today as we debut into Premier League and Brookvale were well drilled and started with high intensity in both grades.

The first grade encounter was quite an even affair from the start with Beacon Hill not taking advantage of their opportunities and Brookvale did, and by half time we were down 4 nil.

Photo: Ladies Premier League Round 1 - Beacon Hill v Brookvale

The challenge was now in front of us and when we began to settle and put our combinations together we began to show glimpses of what we are capable of doing and went onto win the second half 2 – 1.

Once the communication takes place and we find our rhythm the challenge's ahead will become easier.

Photo: Round 1 - Beacon Hill v Brookvale

Our young reserve grade team worked hard for 90 minutes and were unlucky not to score on several occasions and once they settle into position and hold shape the football will flow.

The challenge for Reserve grade will be to learn to play the inner game.

LADIES AL1: BEACON HILL V BTH RAIDERS

Photo: Ladies AL1: Beacon Hill v BTH Raiders It was an unfortunate 0-4 nil loss against BTH Raiders for the Ladies AL1's.

With many team members never having played together before, all worked hard and gelled together quickly to try and stop the very fast and very skilled forwards of BTH.

Coming back on to the field at half time being 2 nil down with constructive and positive words from the coach Brett Honey, we took charge with many shots on goal but unfortunately for our forward Ida Olsson the ball would have none of it and was hitting the corner post and bouncing back in the field of play.
Photo: Ladies AL1: Beacon Hill v BTH Raiders

All in all a good game was had by all. I have to commend our young 16's in our team for having to step up so quickly from playing social in under 18's and then having to now play a much tougher psychically and mentally game, and to the older girls showing their support.

A special mention to Helen Whithear from the AL2's rushing from having played her game to come play keeper for the AL1's.
