Ladies Grand Finals 2010 - Reports / Photos

BHFC – LADIES SUCCESS

What a year for the Beacon Hill Football Club's Women's Teams. The 35/2's winning both the Major Premiership and Grand Final in penalty shoot out, Beacon Hill joining the Premier League competition, the Premier League Reserves going all the way to win their Grand Final in a penalty shoot out and our registrations in women's football continue to increase with the newly formed 35/3's "mums" team joining our club this season. Congratulations to all on a fantastic 2010 season.

Ladies 16/3
Beacon Hill 1 Forest-Killarney 0

We had a good start to the 1st half holding out several Forest attacks in the first 15 minutes.

As the game started to settle down we were able play our own game, we went to the half time break at nil all.

The second half was just as exciting as the 1st as the more possession we had the better the team started playing.

This was probably the best half we had played all season at the right time on the right day. Our goal came 15 minutes from time after some excellent plays had Forest on the back foot.

Final score a 1-0 win to Beacon Hill.

This season has been a sensational team effort by the WU16-3's and we have achieved so much this year by becoming Major and Minor champions. I am proud to be part of this team as a coach as these girls have shown strength, determination and a team bond this year that has allowed them to succeed.

Congratulations girls.

- Coach, Barry Warriner

After winning the Major Premiership we were thrilled to also qualify for the Grand Final against Wakehurst A, who we were yet to beat this season.

We knew we would need to fight hard. So at full time the score was locked at 0- 0 and the same after 20 minutes of extra time.

We knew what we had to do and after eight players from each team taking penalty shoots we were victorious 4-3 in the end.

Congratulations to Mary, Noeline and Tracey C who were successful as our 1st, 3rd and 5th penalty takers respectively.

The final word goes to our wonderful Goalie Lisa Peterson who slotted home the winner straight after saving two consecutive Wakehurst attempts.

What an epic day that will remain in our memories forever. 16 local ladies aged between 36 and 53 who have had an absolutely fabulous season of laughter, friendship and soccer.

Thank you to our awesome coach, Chris Cassettari, manager Russell Cragg, our family, friends and the committee members who came to offer support.

Thank you also to Julie and John Wright who hosted the after party. Congratulations to Linda who was voted 'most improved', Noeline who was voted 'best team player' and our wonderful sweeper Danielle who was voted 'players player' by their team mates.

Back to Division 1 we go next season!
