COACHING & DEVELOPMENT

OVERVIEW: CLUB POLICY
Senior grades:
ESTABLISHED TEAMS
The top four senior sides (Premier League, Premier League Reserves, AL1 and AL1 Reserves) to train together in the pre-season for the purpose of grading / selection. P/L and A/L coaches to work together and liaise with each other for selection of players. This policy effective from 2005.
Junior grades:
DIVISION 1 TEAMS (or TOP BEACON HILL TEAM in that age group)
The top team in any age group should always consist of the best players in that age group.
DIVISION 2 TEAMS (or SECOND TEAM in that age group)
The second team in any age group should consist of the next best players after players selected in the higher team of that age group.
DIVISION 3 TEAMS AND LOWER (or THIRD TEAM AND LOWER in that age group)
Should consist of the balance of players in that age group. Grading is encouraged but will not be forced.
LATE REGISTERED PLAYERS
Players who register late, (ie after teams have been selected) will undergo an assessment of their playing ability by the coaches of that age group and placed in an appropriate team by agreement of those coaches. No player already selected in a division will be displaced by the new player.
NUMBERS FORMULA FOR JUNIOR TEAMS (under-10 and upwards)
A minimum number of 12 players will be picked initially for each division at grading. Players will be added to each side in terms of their playing ability once final numbers are known for that age group.
SELECTORS
Teams for under-9 and under-10 age groups will be selected by three members of the selection committee. These selectors must be independent of the teams with no ties to the players involved. They are to utilise the assessment sheets provided by the previous years coach to help in the selection process. The assessment sheets should be viewed and discussed by the selectors prior to first grading session.
Teams for under-11 and above will be selected by two selectors (who are independent of the teams with no ties to the players involved) and the coach from the previous season. If there is no coach - then three neutral selectors.
COACHES AND MANAGERS
People intending to coach or manage junior sides need to nominate themselves as interested persons to the Beacon Hill Committee. The selection of coaches and managers will be made by the Beacon Hill Committee.
Coaches and managers will be appointed after team grading.
NOTIFICATION OF TEAMS / COACHES / MANAGERS
Teams will be posted on the club's website as soon as selection is completed. Coaches and managers will be notified prior to the team's being posted on the web site.
MOVEMENT OF PLAYERS
Until the end of April, players are able to be moved (after initial selection) to a higher or lower graded team under special circumstances. Player movement is to be sanctioned by the Beacon Hill Committee.
PLAYING TIME
For teams playing in Division 1 and Division 2 competitions, the amount of on field playing time for each player is at the discretion of the coach.
In lower divisions, players should be given equal time where possible.
