SUMMER 6 A SIDE 2009
LATEST NEWS
FINALS NIGHT
Tuesday 8th December 2009
Congatulations to Whites in both grades.
The Golden Boot winners were Callum Hughes and Fehin Dunnin
- in the opens and 35's respectively.
Thank you to every one who helped through the year.
We hope to see you all again next year at the Beacon Hill.
In the meantime have a great Christmas.
Over 35's Semi Final (1). Red vs Green
The semi final between red and green was quite a fast paced match with both teams defending strong and providing some good attacking raids through the midfield.
Team Red scored the first goal midway through the 1st half when Harvey Nolan played a great through ball into space for Fehin who drew two defenders before squaring the ball to Darren Blin who slotted the ball into the net to claim his first goal in the tournament.
With a place in the Grand Final at stake, the second half saw play continue to go from end to end. Some misfortune for Team Green arose when their keeper attempted to clear a 50/50 ball only to see it hit the chest of the Red's striker Nathan Harris and bounced into Greens goal: 2-0 for Red midway through the second half. Third goal came for Red when another poor clearance from Green saw Smokie drive in a 20 yard strike to an open goal.
A great game played in the right spirit by both teams and the game was a lot closer than the score suggests.
O35 Semi Final (2). White vs Yellow
O35 White v Yellow semi final Tue.8.Dec With Bryan up front, Grant and Herman everywhere and Brett at the back, the Yellows looked strong. For the Whites, our main striker Joe Swizzle was out injured so Charlie was drafted in.
The Whites have always been pretty strong defensively and today was no exception. Bryan was marked constantly to minimise the damage from his deadly left foot, and Charlie, Frank and Laurie worked well together through the middle and up front.
Both teams made quite a few runs from the backline through to the front, though none of the defenders managed to put any decent shots away. Frank and Charlie scored in the first half and Charlie backed up to seal it in the 2nd half - 3 zip to the Whites.
Grand Final Red vs White
After both teams had solid wins in their respective semi finals, it was fitting to see the top two teams square off in the Grand Final.
In tough conditions, both teams struggled on a difficult pitch and due to committed, tight defending by both sides. Few shots were taken by either side, all wide of goal, leaving the score sheet at 0-0 at half time.
Second was similar to the 1st half, with Team Red having the better of the chances, however it was not going to be the night for either team, as again only one shot in the night required a save from a goal keeper.
At full time and with the scores still deadlocked at 0-0, it was decided that a penalty shoot out would decide the winner.
Three kickers from each team were selected, yet it was the brilliant keeping of Team Whites' goalkeeper Laurence Green proving the difference, with 2 great saves.
Final score 1-0 to Team White.
- Nathan Harris

OPENS REPORT
Tim BOORMAN scored 3 in a 3-1 win for the Orange, who are unbeaten after 10 rounds. Great volley by Tank saved by Glen before Tank scored for the Reds. A long range shot by Arch saved easily by Glen. The Orange team are 1st with the Reds picking up the wooden spoon.
What's the story with Dean's hat? Great skill by Glen to open the scoring Dean got the equaliser before Burnsy missed two, yes two sitters. Good game with the Greens moving into 3rd spot and will play the Whites next week in the semi. The Blues can only wait for next year.
The final game of the night saw White v Yellow and the vicious "Beacon Hill bobble" denied Archie from in front of goal. Glen blazes away and misses to the left. Like lightning Archie legs it from half way but Dave in goal denies him. 0-0 at half time. Both teams could use the Tank right about now. Tommy awarded a dubious free kick, Burnsy runs onto a neat inside pass and slots it home for a 1-0 lead to the Whites. Burnsy harasses Andy Taylor in goal and nearly wins the ball for a free shot at goal. That's it game over. Whites move on to the semi against Green and Orange play Yellow. The big question everyone wants to know is will Tank be used as a sub next week?
The semis start at 7.30 with the final at 8.30, see you there.
Callum still leads the golden boot with 9 and he returns next week after a 2 week break for Schoolies.

OVER 35s REPORT
Well it all came down to the final round, and the final game of the round to decide the top four sides for the finals.
Game 1
Reds 2 Orange 0
Orange needed the win to claim a spot in the finals but could not buy a goal. Charley had the best of the chances, but some good keeping from Richo. Nil all at half time and looked like anyone's game until Fehin scored with a rocket in front of goals. Fehin scored again from an acute angle in what looked like a toe poke. That takes his tally to 10 goals, and will be hard to beat from there. Reds finished in first place and the oranges bow out!!!!
Blue 2 Green 0
The green were short a few players, and the blues were good enough to take full advantage. I don't remember the goal sequence but I know that Phil Robson scored for the blues, as well as "Slamming" Sammy Panetta. Patrick was once again the everywhere man, and led the boys well. The win pushed the blues ahead of Yellow on for and against, and they were hoping the whites could knock off the yellow..........................
Yellow 1 White 0
First half was pretty tight with both sides only having the odd chance. Richo saved a beauty from Charley. Anton had the boys pumped, with his usual 'they got nothing cry". Herman was telling JT that they had stacked their team again. Anyway, Yellows played some pretty good football, with Grant getting the one-two's going. The Yellows goal came straight after half time, with an "un-named soldier" sending a lovely ball to Brian who finished off with a flat strike. The strike ended goalie Joe Swizzle's night with a hamstring injury!!!
The whites tried hard to play the Blues back into the finals but the yellow were too good on the night.
Next week semi-finals start at 7pm for both games.
Reds vs Green
White vs Yellow.
The winners will play the final at 8pm.
Hope the orange and blue teams come up for a few beers and cheer the other teams on!!!!!!!!!!.

OPENS REPORT
The first game of the night was the Yellow and Reds, who have started to get it together to late. The Reds won 2-1 in a really good fast game of football. Burnsie scored a cracker from an unreal strike and this was followed 30 seconds later with a soft goal to Sean. Chris the fill in keeper from the 35's pulled off some great saves. Rick scored an individual goal. The Reds have really looked the goods the last few weeks and this result leaves the Yellow team in 4th place on goal difference, with the Whites to play next week, in what will go a long way in deciding the semi's placing.
The second game was another upset, the bottom placed Blues destryed the Whites 5-0 with goals to Danny Boorman, Timmy Boorman, 2 goals to Tank Mc Burnie, with the goal every one has been waiting for, James Foley scored a runaway goal. Ned will need to fire up the Whites next week against Yellows to get their season back on track at the business end of the comp.
The final game off the night saw another good tight game with the Greens holding the unbeaten Orange team to a 1-1 draw. Burnsie scored to give the Greens a lead only for Haemish to equalise after a cracking shot by Alex. The result was fair with both sides playing hard, both these teams are well in the hunt for the title.
As for the Golden Boot, Callum Hughes, with 7, still leads by 2 from Geoff Saunders and Sean Reagan who have 5 each.

OVER 35s REPORT
As we know it's been a tight comp and as predicted the semi final make up won't be decided until the last round. Even the Blues can make it if they win and other result goes their way. The differential is only one goal less than yellow!
Red 1 Yellow 0
Very tense game with the form team of the competition being pushed all the way by the Yellows. The Reds goal came from good lead up from Harvey with Smokey splitting two defenders to score. Yellows pushed hard all match with Brian always dangerous. Grant and Anton had the best scoring chances however the reds scrambled well. Fehin didn't score this week so remains equal with Joe Swizzle on 8 goals for the golden boot award. Yellows are in 4th spot on 10 points, but must get points against the whites next week to book a finals spot.
White 2 Blues 1
Blues needed points out of this game and played with plenty of conviction. Niels and Terry did all the early running, however the whites held composure. Rob Bulfon scored the first goal after a scrabble with Patrick. The 2nd goal to White was amazing. Joe Swizzle held the ball up on the left touch line against a persistent "FRIM". After 30 seconds of the contest Joe send a long cross, which found Franks head on the far post... classic. Blues then dominated the last 7 minutes. Paddy and Sam were running wild, and Pete Nolan chipped the keeper with a great goal. As previously mentioned, Blues can still make the finals with a win over green next week.
Green 1 Orange 0
With both sides on 8 points the stakes were high. Orange had some early chances via Pooley and Brian, however Aaron pulled off a couple of great saves. Green scored the first and only goal of the game in the first half via a mid field run from Brian Keenan and Rob Bulfon finished in style. 2nd half was all about Orange searching for the equaliser. Brian, Paddy and Charlie had the best of the chances. One of the funniest moments came when Charlie screamed at his team, "these guys are shite, all they do is defend". Mal Olsen replied, "we do do it rather well, don't you think Charlie"? Great banter. The win should book the greens a final spot, however if both Yellow and Orange win, they could be back hanging out washing on finals night!

OPENS REPORT
The first game saw the Reds, with a full team, take on the Greens in a good even game of football. Great attacking play from Lucas, our new Brazilian, fantastic saves from the Green's keeper, big Joe. The game ended nil all, a result that didn't help either side, with the semi's now only two games away.
The second game of the night was the top two teams playing in what every one thought would be an even game. How wrong they were. The Orange ran out lucky winners 4-0, with 2 goals to Callum, Tim and Josh scoring, this made up for the sitters missed by Haemish, one of which hit the corner post. Jason Cohen and Ned combined well in attack for the Whites and showed they are still a side to be reckoned with in the semi's.
The final game of the night was the Blues and Yellows. Ric hit a cracker of a goal to seal a tight 1-0 win to the Yellow, who move up to equal second on the table. The Yellows had some wild shots with Glenn and Tank nearly hitting the church. Archie and Andrew both missed sitters and James made a couple of good saves for the Blues.
The table is tightened up now, with the White, Yellow and Green fighting out for the 2 3 4 spots. I reckon they all want to avoid playing the Orange in the semi's.
The Golden Boot has opened up with Callum hitting 2 more to take his tally to 9, 4 ahead of Geoff Saunders on 5 and Jason Cohen on 4. As Callum is away at Schoolies for the next 2 weeks will any one catch him prior to his return for the semi's?

OVER 35s REPORT
Reds 3 Green 0
The reds booked a place on finals night with a dominant 3 goal display.
A fitter and confident Nathan Harris scored the 1st goal from close range. Fehin scored the 2nd after beating the keeper and guiding the ball home, taking his competition tally to 7 goals. Greens tried hard to get back into the match and a Richard Forest shot which hit the bar was the closest they came. Nathan finished the scoring with a ball he met on the full whilst in motion, real gem! Greens are still in the hunt after the Orange and Yellow also went down.
White 2 Orange 0
Orange really dominated the first half and had all the chances, whilst the Whites defence scrapped well and hung in there. Lot's of passion in this game that probably went a bit over the odds for a short period of time.
Whites pushed Frank forward after half time and stole a goal against the run of play. Whites clicked in the last five minutes and Frank laid off a nice ball to Swizzle to seal the victory. This takes Swizzles tally to 8 goals, just one in front of Fehin. Will Duckworth had a solid game in goals for the whites. The Orange team certainly put in a big effort considering they were missing Charlie & Phil.
Blue 2 Yellow 0
Well this victory certainly blew this competition wide open. The blues clicked tonight and really enjoy playing against the yellows. Terry Redmond scored the first goal from a long range strike, which struck the left post and deposited in the right corner. Highlight for me was the two running men in Grant and Paddy testing each other out. Yellow were unlucky not to score with Brian hitting the post with a full blooded strike. Borrowed player Frank sealed the victory with a classic long range shot, easily goal of the night. Niels, Pete and Sammy all had good games.
Yellow are still in 3rd spot, however it's extremely tight!!!

OPENS REPORT
The night started with the battle for ther wooden spoon. The Blues got off to a flyer with an early goal to Tank McBurnie, Then young Adam Saez created some magic and equalised for the Reds. The Blues then dominated with Fem scoring a double and Geoff making it 4. Tank added a consolation goal to finish the night 4-2 to the Blues. They may still have a chance of the semis if they get it together in the next few weeks.
Game two saw the mighty Orange held to a 1 all draw with the Yellows. This was a hard fast game, going end to end. Haemish scored a great team goal for the lead, then Adam hit an equaliser for the Yellows. Patto was solid in defence and made some great saves. At the end of the night a draw was a good result for both. This young Orange team remain unbeaten. Tim Boorman is still smiling.
The final game of the night saw the Whites get up 3-1 over the Greens. This was the battle for 2nd spot and battle it was. Coxy opened the scoring, adding to a goal which was awarded to Geoff last week. Chris Starkey and Jason Cohen both scored good team goals. Patto finished off with a great individual goal.
The Whites now sit in second spot and are starting to put pressure on the Orange team, who they play next week. This should be a cracker. Can the Orange be beaten? I'm sure the crowds will be out in the THOUSANDS next week.
The Golden Boot leaders as the comp hots up are as follows, Callum Hughes 7, Geoff Saunders 5, Jason Cohen and Sean Reagan 4, Haemish Carroll and Andrew McBurnie on 3.

OVER 35s REPORT
Reds 2 Blue 1
Reds winning streak continued in a hard fought battle with the Blues. Fehin scored the first with a well placed strike. Blues lifted the tempo with Patrick covering a huge amount of ground. Blues levelled via hustling goal to Pete Nolan. The game appeared to be heading for a draw before ace striker Fehin made a trade mark run and delivered a powerful left foot strike to seal victory. Blues are now 4 points off the finals pace with 9 points still on offer. Must win next week!
Yellow 1 Orange 0
Another very even contest with both Yellow and Orange desperate for points. Nil all at half time was a good indication of the contest. The goal to Yellows came via a mix up at the back, and Brian Keenan swooped to knock in an easy goal. Yellows 2nd chance came via a corner where Grant Perry got his head to the ball, however went wide. The last 10 minutes was all out attack to the Orange! Pooley, Phil, Paolo and Brian all got shots away, however the goal didn't come. The Victory for Yellow lifts them to clear third, with Orange now sharing 4th position.
White 1 Green 0
Greens have the best defence in the league and continued to be hard to crack. Aaron made a full body length save in the 1st half after a great strike from Mark Smith. It's fair to say that Whites had most of the attack with Nic Townsend having created at least 3 chances. Steve Grigg was inspirational taking on big Joe Swizzle on the ball. The goal came to Frank Henery midway through the 2nd half, who redeemed himself from an earlier miss. Good team effort from the whites with Rob Bulfon and Daniel having their best games. Whites stay top of the table and Greens now share 4th spot!

OPENS REPORT
The first game saw the whites win 3-1 against a hard working Red team. Geoff Saunders hitting 2 and Jason Cohen firing in the third, adding to the goal he scored in the last game, that was incorrectly given to Ned.
Paolo scored what many said was a world class goal, a dipping volley from half way. Ned has the Whites building towards the semis.
Next up was the Yellow against the Greens, a game for 2nd place, as expected it was close with the Greens getting up 1-0. Gene Varano smashing the winner after Coxy made a series of saves, keeping the Yellows in the game.
Finally the Orange team worked very hard to finally win 2-0 against an honest Blue team. Haemish showed some silky skills whilst Alex and James competed and showed their youthful skills. Callum and Pasquale scored great goals and the Orange remain unbeaten. Timmy Boorman still has a huge smile on his dial.

OVER 35s REPORT
Reds 2 Whites 0
Look out, here comes the Red train!!!!!
The Reds have been the form side over the last few weeks and outgunned the competition leaders. Whites were missing 4 but no excuses, they had very capable subs in Phil, Niels and Gerio. Fehin proved he had right foot after beating two players to score the opener. Swizzle had a couple of half chances, however couldn't add to his 6 goal tally.
Fehin scored again in the 2nd half beating two (including the editor) to put in a left foot strike on an incredible angle. Whites were below par in both defence and attack, however shouldn't take anything away from a good team performance from the Reds.
Yellow 2 Green 0
Another upset and with 5th placed Yellows beating 2nd placed Greens.
Yellow went one up in the first half with a tidy finish from Anton. First goal conceded for the tournament by Aaron Kemp who has been solid as. 2nd half started with Tony Gerio having a shot straight from the kick off that just went over the bar. Richard Forest had plenty of work in goals in the 2nd half with attacking raids from Brett Perry and Brian Keenan. He finally succumbed to a one on one finish to Grant Perry. A well deserved win and valuable 3 points, which has the yellows on 7 points in 5th but one point off third. Welcome to Mully who has joined the greens to replace Dave McCubbin.
Orange 1 Blues 0
Very even contest that was a little scrappy given the southerly change gusting through just before kick off. Brian O'Rielly scored the goal midway into the first half. Blues continued to attack and searched for the equaliser via Paddy, Pete, Sam and Niels but couldn't find the net. Valuable win to Orange, who retain 4th spot. Blues need a couple of results over the next two weeks to push for a finals spot. 4 Games remaining, so still 12 points on offer.
Sean Rooney had a complication with his ankle ligament injury. He developed DVT, which fortunately was quickly diagnosed. Here's to a speedy recovery Sean!!!! Thanks also to Sean's wife (nurse) for looking after him, and sending along a bag of bandages and an ice-pack.

6 A SIDE FOR TUES 27/10 WAS CANCELLED DUE TO WET WEATHER
Thursday 22nd October 2009
OPENS REPORT
The night started with a good game with the Yellow team getting up with a solid 3-1 win over the Reds.
Arch, Ric and Glen hitting the net for the Yellows with Archies goal in line for the goal of the season.
Big Kev hitting the reply for the Reds.
The Whites had a 2-0 win over the Blues, Geoff Saunders scoring the first then Ned slotting in the second, this result meant that we now have a break for the top 4 and 2 teams at the bottom
The final game of the night was the top two teams playing each other, as expected it was a tight hard fought game of end to end football. Even the current golden boot leader, Callum Hughes couldn't put one away. The game ended nil all. This was a great game to watch and we now know that the Orange are not invincible as Timmy Boorman keeps saying.
At the half way stage it is still very open and I'm sure we will have some interesting games in the weeks to come to decide the top four.
- Dave Wilson
OVER 35s REPORT
Well for the first time we had three decisive victories, which has created a minor gap for the top 3 teams. We all know it's all about the top 4, and there's only 1 point between 4th and 6th at the end of the first round!
Red's 4 Yellow 1.
Red's had a brilliant start with Fehin scoring in the 1st minute of play! Nathan scored the 2nd after completely missing the ball on the first swing, however the ball bounced back and he touched in for a most unusual goal. Smokey made it 3 with a well placed strike which gave keeper Richo no hope. The Yellows got on the board through a penalty to Brian, however had plenty of other chances. Fehin finished the scoring with a beautiful left foot strike out wide, which was unquestionably the goal of the night. Reds are building a great combination, watch out. Yellow will be happy to have Grant, Wok and Herman back!
White 2 Blue 0.
The whites finally welcomed Will Duckworth for his first game and he was impressive at the back (plus added colour with his unique hair style). Frank also made return from a week away and really made a difference. Whites first goal came via a "own goal", however the 2nd was great team work. Swizz and Bufon played the old 1-2, with Swizz hitting home his 6th for the tournament. Blues have a quality squad but couldn't finish off their attacking raids tonight, especially after Sean Rooney went off with a serious ankle injury!. More wins in store for Paddies Blue boys! Sorry to Pete Nolan for giving your beautiful curled in corner goal to Niels last week!
Green 2 Orange 0
A good start in 6 aside seems to be crucial and especially in this one! The Greens are known for their defence, however they can be brutal on the counter attack. Dave Pritchard scored with the first minute with a great strike. Our 35 6A's mate Youngie scored a classic left foot strike, yes I had to check the detail as well!!!!! Unfortunately the Orange boys couldn't settle and recreate the great form they showed against the whites last week. Some decent strikes from Pooley, Robbo and Madds but no way the ball was going in tonight!!! Also some great Keeping from Aaron.
For what its worth, Dave Wilson the competition director still thinks you blokes will win the comp! Regroup Orange people!!!!! For my money the Greens have gelled the best out of any team in round 1...... no big names but smart play and great team work led by Mal Olsen and Stevie Grigg!
Round 6 will be crucial - 1,2,3 play 4,5 & 6.

OPENS REPORT
The Greens are starting to put it together with goals to Roscoe and a couple to the busy Sean Reagan. The game was very close in the first half ending up nil all, Roscoe and Gene both going close. Tommy was very good in goal for the Reds and made some great saves. Good skills from Frank led to good chances for Danny Burnes and Kevin Fredes. The Greens now move up to 2nd.
The Orange machine keep on rolling with another goal to Callum, he always seems to be in the right place.
Josh made some great saves to help the Orange to a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Whites, Jason nearly squared up the scores late in the game. The big crowd were asking where Haemish was????
The final game was Blue playing Yellow with the latter getting up by the only goal of the game. This was a great game contested by two teams wanting to win. Rick scoring a skilful goal to clinch it early in the second half. These teams will win a lot of games as the season unfolds.
- Dave Wilson
OVER 35s REPORT
Results in over 35's Round 4 proved we have a very even competition - the competition table is starting to look very congested.
Reds 1 Green 1
Both teams were short of players for the early kickoff but as usual there were no shortages of volunteers.
The greens had the best of the early play with Andrew Ferberwee scoring after the greens were denied early on.
The reds class started to show with Smokey and Nathan making good attacking raids. Michael Carsley scored the equaliser from a very acute angle. Defence was the key in the 2nd half and a draw was a fair result.
Orange 2 Whites 1
Well the Orange boys had a very well deserved first win. Phil scored the first goal after a deflection off JT.
The response from the whites was instant with Joe Swizzle scoring an unbelievable goal from half way from the kick off. I doubt you will see a more impressive individual goal this comp. The orange boys moved it around in the 2nd half and always looked dangerous with Tim, Charlie and Paddy attacking strongly. Phil scored his 2nd and the winner with a "charge down like" run. The win puts the orange team in equal 2nd and good to see this strong squad in the mix.
Blue 2 Yellow 0
Both sides were hungry for points after slow starts to the competition. Niels scored first with a curled in corner that beat everyone... not quite a Swizzle special, but class just the same. Yellow had some solid passages in the 2nd half via Grant and Herman. Both Anton and Dave Lakos had shots on goals but were denied. Newcomer to BHFC, Sean Rooney scored late in the 2nd half to claim victory. Both teams now on 4 points and 1 point off 2nd spot.

Thursday 8th October 2009
OPENS REPORT
The night started with a storm and the pitch had to be moved to the other oval, which was a little dryer.
The opening match saw the Reds get their first win against the Blues in a close game. Daniel Burns hitting a screamer to separate the two teams.
The next game served us up some great football and the mighty Orange proved too slick for a hard working Yellow side, led by the lovable larrikin, Archie. Callum smacked in 3 well taken goals and must be the early favourite for the golden boot. Haemish, to the crowds amazement, scored a brilliant goal, which will have the football world talking about a new striker. Can any one stop Timmy Boorman and the Orange boys.
In the final game of the night we saw the White and Greens play out a tight game in a 1 all draw. Jason Cohen smacked in a great goal to give the Whites an early laed and Knoxy pulling of some great saves. This was end to end and eventually Knoxy pushed up field from his goal keepers spot and drilled a rocket to square up the game. Both sides searched for the winner, however, a draw was a good result for both.
The competition looks to be similar in both grades, with a runaway leader, followed by 5 teams with nothing separating them. The question is can they catch the leaders or will they look to get a semi final spot? Time will tell.
- Dave Wilson
OVER 35s REPORT
Reds 1 Light Blue 0
The storm cleared and the reds and blues got round 3 up and running. Reds were bolstered by the return of Smokey. The reds goal came from good lead up through Fehin and Nathan put it away. The blues worked hard in the 2nd half with shots at goal by Chris Leach, Paddy, Pete and Niels. The reds held on for their 1st victory.
Yellow 4 Orange 1.
The yellows looked good last week and came out guns blazing. Brian Keenan knocked in goal one after a keeper error, however scored soon after with a cracking shot. Paddy scored the next and 3-0 at half time. Credit to the orange boys who stayed positive and continued to build the attack. Charlie and Pooley led the way with Phil getting off a cracking shot that clipped a defender and went over the bar. Charlie scored after a solid run through the middle. A late left footed strike from Anton seeled a big win for the yellows. Orange team have a good playing roster and will bounce back.
White 1 Green 0
Top of the table clash between the early leaders. It was all green in the first half with guest keeper Tim Maddrell saving two certain first half goals by Niels and Mal for the greens. Frank made a few opportunities and Daniel was enjoying the space up front. The greens managed to mark Joe Swizzle tight for most of the game, however he managed a breakaway turn and delivered a stunning right footed strike to score. Aaron and Richard were looking dangerous late in the game however the whites defence held together via Bufon and Nic.

OPENS REPORT
The Whites got their first win of the season against a much improved Red team.
It was a game of 2 halves with the reds dominating the first half, with Matty Gale missing a penalty in the first 5 minutes, Eric Pollard made some great saves to keep the Whites in the game.
In the second half Ned scored a ripper for the Whites then Geoff Saunders hitting the second for a well deserved 2-0 win.
The second game proved to be very competitive and the mighty Greens got up 3-1 over the Yellow team, led by the busy Archie.
Gene scored a great goal to get things underway, Steve Patterson was solid at the back. Fashad scored for the Yellow's after his last attempt hit the church. Kevin scored an own goal to finish the scoring in a good game . The Greens led by Roscoe and the busy Sean Regan look to be a very good side.
The favourites for the title, the Orange team proved to be to strong for an under strength Blues, who were missing Fem, Danny Booorman and Sam Murdocca.
Callum scored a couple, with the first one a cracker.
Our youngest player 16 year old Alex Truszewski got his first of the tournament along with goals to Pasquale Tim Boorman and a soft goal to Haemish. Adam produced some great saves in a well beaten side. I reckon the Blues will come good next week, so be warned.

OVER 35s REPORT
Game 1 Reds vs Whites
3-1 Whites
Reds and whites did their best to soften the pitch for the games to follow.
Joey Swizzle opened the scoring after going close early on!!! Fehin was causing havoc for the reds, however Nic and Rob were trying to keep the danger man under control.
Nic scored a long range bend it like Paolo from half way... yes we are all still in shock.
Reds were rewarded for their 2nd half domination with a classic goal to Nathan. Swizzle scored a
Nic Townsend long range goal to seal a 3-1 victory. Game was closer than the score-line!!!
Game 2 Yellow (Dark Blue) vs Green.
0-0 Draw!
Yellows had a very solid line up with Paolo and Alf helping out. Aaron got tested in goals in the first half but solid to the challenge.
The greens held their shape and looked dangerous on the counter. Brian and Paolo were hard to contain in the 2nd half, and Grant was the typical everywhere man. Gerio was the surprise guest keeper for the greens in the 2nd half and saved a full on shot from Pauly. Yellows will win soon, but great defence from greens. Richard Forest (6B's 1st season of football) was brilliant for the greens at the back.
Game 3 Orange vs Light Blue
1-1 Draw
Plenty of passion in this one, and a little bit of skin lost!!! Orange dominated the early play. Lion Heart Tim Pooley scored the 1st half goal for the Orange people.
Great to see Charley back from his long holiday and still barking as you would expect. Light Blues grew in confidence as the match went on. Everyone's favourite player Patrick McCarthy got the equaliser.
Light Blues had a shot at full points when a desperate Tim Madds (keeper) chased down every attacker outside the circle and a long range shot from Pete Nolan was headed out by 45's Nick Kokolis. Great entertainment!

Wed 23rd September 2009
Our 6 a side got off to a good start last night despite the rain and the wind.
The opens started with a hard fought 3-2 win to the Orange over the Reds.
Tim Boormans side have started like the early favourites with goals from Tim, Tom and Josh Dale. Big Keviv Fredes scoring a brace in reply, whilst on loan for the Reds.
The Blues proved too strong for a depleted Green side winning 3-1.
Danny Boorman got of to a flyer with 2 goals and Andrew McBurnie adding the 3rd. Sean Reagan hitting the only goal for the hard working greens.
In the final game of the night the Yellows got up 1-0 over the whites in a close game.
Sean Reagan scoring the winner in his second game of the night.
I'm sure that when a lot of the PL players return next week things will hot up a bit.
The Over 35s started with a grinding 0-0 draw between the Orange and Reds, neither side being able to convert the endless chances they created. I'm sure they will both be happy to start the comp with a point each.
The Greens looked very composed in the 2-0 win over the Light Blues, with goals to Tony Giarattano and the borrowed Paolo. The game looked good with some good ball movement up and down the pitch.
The final game of the night saw the Whites get up 2-1 against the Yellow / dark blues. Big Joe hit two quick goals before fading, this allowing a Dark Blue revival with Neils scoring. Brian Keenan creating numerous chances without being able to convert. I'm sure there are goals in those boots next week.
All in all both comps looked fairly even, so we should be in for a good comp as the season unfolds.
